Summer vacation time... schools are out... :D :lookaroun

Can I ask you something Corrus... how exactly do you know whats going on?

Because you have stated that attractions will or won't come - Disney management hasn't exactly offered you to come around and look at their plans.

If you are a cm - then you still wouldn't know only if you were the GM of one of the parks would you know, and i still doubt you would risk your job over it.

On Sept 24, 2006, STOLport is turned over to WDI... I've been wondering why..?

To back up Mousemerf,we have to have our storage containers and trailer moved from the Stolport by Sept. 1st. It is being turned over to WDI,it is being used to hold some material for Contemporary rehab, was also used for Poly rehabs, among other rehab work like Pirates. And by the way the DVC resort with Monorail station will be announced Oct. 1,and Lou will be proven right again. Also backing up Marni1971, the plans we have gotten for the resort include the road work for Vista Blvd.It also has the canal being made to connect the resort to the water tranportation system, and thank god finally ,demo of RC.

He said nothing of the Bay Lake/Venitian Resort, granted... it is close to that resort's planned location, but from my understanding the Venitian was to be on the lake and this description makes it sound like it is not on the lake

Yeah, i was just saying this is the only place i could see a monorail resort going. You can see it on this old map. One on the Epcot line, like i said, would be neat but i jsut dont think the tourism numbers are back to pre-9/11 levels yet.

Please don't bash me. I'll make this short and sweet. My fiances friend came up to our lake house last night for a visit he works in Orlando as an electrician for a company that has been sub-contracted out by Disney to do electric work. He has no idea that we love disney and has no reason to lie to us. His next project is going to be a new Disney Time Share Resort that has a monorail platform. This is defenite - his company has been hired and he was telling me about a 300 plus page blue print book regarding the project.

Also, Disney will be connected with MCO using a light rail system. The same rail system will also extend to Universal and downtown Orlando.

One more thing - they are in the planning stage for a fith park.

Don't forget that I love you guys and love reading your posts, so please don't be to harsh and as soon as the platform goes up I will get the picture.

We appreciate you listing what you have heard! Thus the point of this whole category/site is fullfilled. I enjoy hearing these rumors 'cause it keeps the anticipation flowing, and chances are something is going on here due to all the additional info and chat! We will wait and see!

Corrus can of course answer for himself but he is on the level. It is my understanding that he is recently retired but held a position that gave him much insight into what projects are blue sky, green lit or just plain not going to happen.

What would a monorail expansion thread be without someone questioning Corrus? All the classic signs of WDWMagic deja vous... :D

We have lightrail here in Houston and I have ridden it. I can tell you that there would be a significant issue with luggage storage, etc. Now, yes, they likely would have to build trains capable of handling the number of people and luggage. I just dont see this happening. Where would the train drop people off on property? The TTC? Then, you would have to transfer the luggage from train to a specific bus to the resort. To me its a nightmare in planning and administration.
I suspect the current baggage transfer system would be implemented in this light rail system. Why would you need to claim your bags if Disney is currently taking them from plane to room to plane? As for the guest, the bags are a non issue. Disney could either use their current mode of transportation for bags or use a cargo car on the train, but no guest interaction. It would simply be a car that replaced the trucks currently used for baggage.

As for where would they stop on property... Why not a central station? With the on property bus service that so many rave about, it would be a minor issue to get off a train and onto a resort bus, especially now that you don't have your bags to lug around.

I see this light rail idea as a great replacement for their current bus system that may actually entice more guests to use it....

Furthermore, my wife and I took the train WITH our baggage from Paris to Disneyland Paris. Once at the station at Disneyland, we simply got on a shuttle bus over to our resort. It was really quiet simple, relaxing and enjoyable.... :D

My opinions and ideas expressed here... :D

What ever became of all this Florida Bullet Train stuff? The site describes everything UNTIL 2005 and doesn't go into what happened in 05 or 06. Did they ever finnaly get the green light to start digging?

The public voted on it and got it approved. It was then brought to light that it would cost billions to build and there was no way to pay for it so it was voted on yet again and repealed.

Was it actually voted on again? I missed that. The last I heard was the governor removed the funding from the budget therefore effectively killing it.

I'm sure most of you realize this but I was looking at the area where the STOLport is and it's a pretty large area. It could realistically accommodate at least two resorts, if they ever needed to. Just my two cents.

Many of the resorts were running at 98% or more in the last few weeks, with the All Stars walking their guests to POFQ, Riverside, and Coronado. This wasn't a particularly busy week or two either.

The numbers are up.

See, and none of us are unreliable rumor-mongers either. When we put together the little bits we know, we can start to figure out what they're up to. That's why wdwmagic having so many knowledgeable people rocks :)

Something is set to happen at STOLport. It could b used as a massive staging area for some other project, or, most likely since other projects are being told to get off the property - something is to become of STOLport.
