Monorail Expansion Discussion

Stay inside the guest boundaries. If you have to think twice about what you're doing, it's probably best not to do it.
This jives perfectly with something my sister told me. She works at a doctor's office and she said a patient told her that he is a PM working on NextGen and one of the reasons why they were developing the system was to make sure guests stay within the guest boundaries. The system is able to keep track of all guests at all times, knowing exactly where they are. If they are some where they shouldn't be, an alarm will go off notifying security.

Is there anything he reported that they would have liked to have censored. Or was he about to go somewhere that could have leaked something they would have liked to censor. Or were they just trying to make an example out of him?
He trespassed one too many times, and made it public. They banned him for it as a result. No cover-up, no hidden agenda.....

There not expanding, so where is the need for anything else?
He didn't say that. He said some expansion may be part of the plan. He also mentioned the possible use of other forms of transportation such as light rail. Other forms of transportation, while not monorail, in my mind is still expansion of the system since it all ties in with the existing system. Also, I still want to know the details of the old plans and why they were aborted. It's good historical information to have.

You know how sensitive Disney is about the magic. Any backstage, uninvited, intrusion is not going to be looked at as a good thing. He always sneaked into them, never tried to get permission, because he probably knew that they wouldn't give it to him. Just go to youtube and type in adam the woo and you will get a list of all his postings. You can see for yourself. He also has a web site but I'll let you find that if you want too.
I'll be sure to get permission and I won't leave the boundaries. I studied journalism in college, so I will use what I learned and be professional.

Yes, I know...I was just questioning the REAL need for more of anything without park and extra park expansions.

Rumors are circulating as part of the NextGen initiative Disney is developing a teleporter that could erase the need for the monorail, lightrail, soundrail, and mouse rail.

My opinion is that it must be part of park updates and expansions. For example, any updates to Imagination should include provisions for transit leading to DHS. I don't care if its a monorail spur, a peoplemover, or a Hoggswarts Express.

Any updates or expansions of DHS should include provisions for that system going to Imagination at EC.

In between build the hotels on the empty parcels already zoned for such a use, also built with provisions for the transit system (whatever it is) linking Imagination to DHS.

All told, you get DHS expansion, a new Imagination attraction, new monorail resorts, and a physical transportation network linking the two parks.

If they piecemeal it, okay. Just provide the provisions for the transit network for the hotels, DHS expansion, and FW updates. That way, the easement's already there and new support beams built into those projects, as well as the platforms, will already be there, minimizing the cost of the transit network, if it were built last. Or build the beams and tracks into each of those projects so that all that needs to be done is build the fillers to complete and connect it all.

at the MK
Here is my prediction based on some of my recent talks with people I know at Walt Disney World. They can not continue just to add additional buses for to much longer, it will just overrun Walt Disney World. A new system (or systems) is going to have to be installed to take people from the major parks to different resort areas. An example may be to buses would move from the EPCOT resorts directly to the monorail at the front of EPCOT. Than use the monorail to connect with the Magic Kingdom. This would reduce the number of buses running from these resorts to Magic Kingdom. Downtown Disney (Disney Springs) would be connected to major parks by maybe a light rail trolley or other system. Buses than would move guest from there to the resorts in that area. The system would have one major system from each resort area connecting into the larger systems feeding the parks. The plan would be to get the large number of buses in the area of the Parks down and the total number of buses needed would not continue to increase so fast. So you would see many different large transit systems interconnection the parks and feeding from the parks to hub terminals. Than each major resort area would have a hub and the buses would be the spokes to the resort hotels. I have been told that this might include some additions to the monorail system or may not.

Considering that MK just put 100 year roofs on the 100% expansion with the bus stop at the MK I think they are planning on going with busses for the next few years

Every train is getting repainted for the next year and a half. Starting g with Green, then black. Sorry, no "frozen" or other wraps from what I heard.

How long does it take to repaint a damn train? A year and a half? Really? Are they painting with toothbrushes? :(
Realistically about a month. It's not the painting. That is done quickly. The prep-work is what takes a lot of time. Sanding, repairing dents, scratches, stress broken plastic panels, masking, multi-colors, cleaning interiers, repairing seats left damaged by the wonderful public, etc. They can only do one at a time because they need them on the line and must have backup available in the event of a breakdown. Really, it's not all that simple!

You might not include it as expansion, but when they added the recent hotel resort, Art of Animation, alone added numerous buses to Walt Disney World. With the expansion of Downtown Disney to Disney Springs they want to add additional buses to get more people there to spend their money. I think you will see direct buses from all the major parks to Disney Springs. Like it or not additional buses will have to be added for upcoming expansion of Disney Vacation Club resorts.

I wish they had a supplement to the busses that are supplementing the monorail.

Resort wide peoplemover would be acceptable. I know it will never happen but....it would be awesome.
