Monorail beam cleaning in Epcot - looks fantastic

Do you ever stop being a pessimist? Nothing TDO does satisfies you. Their rehabbing all of the Magic Kingdom, creating a huge expansion and cleaning up the overall resort in many areas. Nothing is perfect, including Disney. Mistakes were made in the past with Eisner, he was ousted and a replacement was put in place. WDW is now moving forward and trying to fix problems of the past. Why do you feel it necessary to always put a negative spin on everything?

A little harsh, but I totally agree. Let's celebrate something small instead of just expecting things to be a way they haven't been for years.

Because Lasseter made them. TDO probably has more Eisner-style thinking than any other division of the Walt Disney Company right now.

...expecting things to be a way they haven't been for years.
Exactly.
Sir, you just made my point.
I do expect things to be the way they used to be. I do expect Disney to live up to the standards that they themselves conditioned us to expect.
Your post acknowledged that things used to be different. Very true. They used to be better.

Pessimist? Me? Nope. I'm really not.
I'm a realist. I call 'em like I see 'em. I don't see the need to applaud some basic maintenance that should be standard procedure.
Next time they decide to fix a broken AA, or patch the walls in Buzz, should we throw a party? I think not. I think we should say "Good. Now what took so long?"
I will admit that if this signals some shift in policy on the part of TDO, and if they are going to be stepping up their game.....bravo. Kudos to them.
If that is the case.

The expansion....I'll just let that go....

I agree things used to be better. No argument here. I'm just saying that I don't understand how something cool can happen and it is meeted with a tepid "it's about f***ing time" response. What an outrageous sense of entitlement.

I mean Warner Bros. movies used to be of higher quality than they are now, but when a good one does come out you don't here critics saying "it doesn't deserve our praise because a good film should be expected from Warner Bros." It is praised for what it is: not Casablanca, but a good film. And, that's what this is: not a JII rehab, but good maintenance.

Entitlement? Given the inflated prices Disney are charging for a diminishing quality product too damn right Im expecting basic care and maintenance.
But the mouse sure loves pixy dust filled eyes and fan boy attitude. And if your analogy had compared the films being not pin sharp, poor quality or rustling sound then it may be valid. The point Lee and others made is not subjective, attention to care and maintenance is what Disney Parks built their reputation on, without it they are just a highly priced show ground.

While I am the number one NON-fan of the entitled. Lee is certainly not one with entitlement issues.

That's not entitlement at all. It's having expectations and expecting out of a company that can and has done amazing things in the past. I don't see what it so negative about wanting the best out of something.

I'm pretty sure the point is not to be so negative, always complaining about what isn't, and start to appreciate things for what they are.

Sure, it's fine judging things based on what they were... but things change and if you keep dwelling on it then it may juist drive you and everyone else around you insane.:lookaroun

It's pretty early here, so I hope I got that right....

This isn't negativity. It's expecting quality out of Disney, given that that is the standard they have set for themselves.

Appreciating things for what they are is a part of it. I appreciate in full that they FINALLY got around to this. But, judging by what Disney has done in the past, they should have done it a lot sooner, and never let the tracks fall into such condition. It's just bad show.

This isn't insanity...it's just logic.

But this works both ways. If you have an employee who you tell to work harder and start improving and they do, but you don't give them any positive reinforcement, they'll eventually just go back to their old ways. People want to complain to get changes, but then its up to those same people to recognize the changes and give praise where its due. Otherwise your complaints just fall on deaf ears because your looked at as someone who is unsatisfiable.

I don't see anyone who didn't say that, in the end, this was a good thing. I know I did.

In fact, I'm very happy this issue in EPCOT is finally being addressed.

2.7 billion in earnings for Q1 is plenty of positive reinforcement.

Think for yourselfer
While it is very nice they are cleaning the monorail beams, and they do look much better, It is about time. I mean how did they let them get to that point in the first place. I understand the long stretches out running along the freeway, but in the park? There is no excuse for that.

Again (and for the millionth time) that is why management was shaken out of their complacency.

There is no going back to the apathy that existed within TWDC a couple years ago. Not in the parks, not in animation, not at ABC, not anywhere. Thank the sheriff and shake off the doom. It's really sounding like "entitlement" and whining at this point.

This post isn't aimed at you. It's for all of the clinically pessimistic 'round these parts.

Seriously, jt, who isn't happy about this? Can you point me in the direction of those posts? I think everyone here is pleased that this issue is being addressed.

I was refering to the generally pessimistic tone that continues no matter how many projects and refurbs prove the pessimism is not justified. It's obvious everything has changed and they are systematically going about fixing the parks etc.

But we live in the age of entilement, fast food, I want it now, nothing is good enough, glass half empty, blah blah blah. :snore:
