Rumor Moana E-Ticket Ride to Adventureland

better for now... kids are fickle.
Moana is a perfect fit for Adventureland...being a female adventurer and voyager. She is very different from a Disney Princess.....which I think is great...Much like Mulan, these are girls of action, not princess types... Not every little girl dreams of being a princess in a fancy dress... Now if they can start adding some boy-centric things that don't involve violence as their primary action as characters... like an expansion of the SEA universe rather than uber violent super heroes it would be amazing.... Adventureland, Tomorrowland and Frontierland Should be all about these kinds of stories....Maybe start creating some movies that have boy heroes...
S.E.A is such an opportunity.

Wish had more problems than just the music...lol The only thing they seemed to do well with on that one was have tons of merch ready for the film release....

My dream... if we had a little sub land back there... would be an Adventureland train station. So that rather than taking that long trek, you could just hop on the railroad. But I expect that's too many stops in rapid succession.

But... What wouldn't be too long a stress is a Villain Land train station in the back corner. A quick way of getting all the way back there would be beautiful!

I’d guess the most likely scenario is that it gets a Country Bears esque redo that tones down the elements people would consider problematic. The Tiki Room and its theme song feel too iconic to remove entirely, especially at DL

Simple! We do more recent songs. Like "Conga" by Gloria Estefan! With modern characters to host! Why hasn't anyone ever thought of that?

Could this be the flume they showed off as blue sky for DAK, or something compeletely different? Because that'll put three water rides on the east half of MK with Tiana, Pirates and now Moana.

If this is indeed the plan, how on earth would the drop be oriented? It can't face the bare back of the Pirates building. If it faces Jungle Cruise, it would probably be visible from there. It seems like there's a lot of sightline issues.

They should re launch rivers of light re themed to Moana

Just please keep Moana out of Animal Kingdom.

I mean... as an anchor to a land around the Nemo theatre based around oceanic life... There's the overlap with The Seas. Honestly, Moana is a much better fit there than Nemo considering the focus of the pavilion was the ocean and not just the life within. Obviously, the aquatic life is a huge part, but there's also their environment. "The Living Seas" is a perfect name to fit with Moana and the destruction of the entry mural wouldn't have had to happen.

Nevertheless, the canal the show comes out of is right there by the theatre. Some nice tidal estuary exhibits (which would differ from the oceanic exhibits in the Seas) to add to the area. Make a little Pacific land there next to Dinoland/Tropical Americas and host a Polynesian water show inside. Use the Polynesian art style to base the new floats on. Lit sails with animal designs. Tie it to an IP, get people interested, bring back a night-time spectacular. The stands make sense watching it from Asia or the new land. Name and theme the stands accordingly. Using the same art style for the kite show could also work well.

Whoa! I've never actually seen that art before! Where did that come from?

Already losing a spinner in Dinoland. In a theoretical world where that’s rebuilt in another park (not saying it will be), they certainly wouldn’t then consider moving a second spinner concurrently.

The answer is simple... FOUR DUMBOS!!!

If it were up to some people we'd still have Superstar Limo and Ellen's Energy Slumber.

 Energy was one of my favorites and why I love Bill Nye. Plus I'll never forget the outline of my friend with the tiny bladder against the newly opened doors to the outside after telling me he needed to go ten minutes in. Memories like that last forever.

I'll interject briefly here. I've seen no one raise the obvious objection towards building a new Moana flume ride in Adventureland.

Flume rides mean that younger guests might be unable to go on the attraction. I assume that this Moana attraction is aimed at appealing to young children who enjoy the Moana film on Disney+. If so, a flume ride with a height requirement similar to Splash Mountain Tiana's Bayou Adventure (40 Inches) would disqualify many guests that this attraction would appeal to. I double checked the CDC guidance on what to expect for height measurements of children. It looks like most 4 year old girls would be unable to ride an attraction with a 40 Inch height limit. Even a portion of 5 year old girls would be losing out on the chance to see Moana. We could foresee a ride with a less-intense drop that could result in a lower height limit. But you'd still be cutting out 3 year old girls. And even if the ride can be safely ridden by these guests, there's no guarantee it would be enjoyable for the important 4-5 year old demographic.

If a Moana ride gets built, I expect it will be accessible to as many guests as possible. Disney's incentive is to provide an attraction similar to what they've just built at Fantasy Springs at Tokyo Disney Sea. Those rides are impressive, but they are not physically taxing. They prioritize audio animatronics, special effects, and music.

I could be totally misreading this, but I think they would be making a mistake to build a thrill ride when families really want something that is accessible to everyone. Just my two cents on the matter.

We've had a Blue Sky art that's more proof of concept than anything displaying a drop, but Small World is also a flume ride.

I would love to see them completely revisit the MK Pirates and expand the attraction...without adding the Shanghai ride system, add a new show scene or two, give it a better finale ending... and give us a Blue Bayou float-through like every other version of Pirates... The Magic Kingdom version should honestly be better than at least one other version of Pirates...not the worst incarnation of the ride of all the Disney theme parks...

The problem with switching the finale to something like the burning version in other versions is that most people are going to be sitting beneath it for ten minutes while the glut of boats wait to be unloaded. That can go from cool to boring to annoying after a while and I'm sure there's a segment of kids who don't want to be sitting beneath a cracking beam that looks like it's about to collapse for an extended amount of time.

The Shanghhai Pirates setting is amazing...a whole village cobbled together with shipwreck materials... I would love to see them expand the area adding something like that... perhaps on the walkway back to the proposed Moana attraction area.... as a transition from the Spanish Colonial feel of the current Pirates area...

If they put the entrance on the other side of Pirates and use that aesthetic, that would be a good transition to Tiana's and Frontierland. Spanish Colonial to rustic and improvised to established wood. That would include a retheming of Pecos Bill's to Tiana's and a change of the established transition, but it would be nice to have something in that liminal space.

Yes, but the original Indiana Jones trilogy is arguably the best trilogy of films ever.

I think the concern is the rushed job and perceived quality (given it was originally produced as a TV series) of Moana 2.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Forgive my terrible graphics skills. Here's what I'm thinking. And I could be wrong, so let me know.

The background image is from the current CFTOB 2032 Comprehensive Plan. Areas in green are suitable for development.

The MK overlay is from Google Maps, scaled to fit the Comprehensive Plan.

To the west of the MK is a piece of land bordered on the west by Floridian Way, and to the east by the storage area for the Electrical Water Pageant.

I've added a red cross to this piece of land. Just the rectangle around that red cross is a piece of land about 1,000' wide by 1,500' high (about 34.5 acres), according to Google Maps. That doesn't count the stubs of land north and south of that box.

For reference on the right is the Yacht Club. Google Maps says the entire complex minus the docks is no more than 1,000' by 1,150' (about 27.5 acres). That includes parking.

IIRC there are around 630 rooms at Yacht Club.

So it seems like this piece of land would be more than enough to host a Yacht Club-sized DVC, with walking access through Adventureland.

Like I said, I could be wrong.

Sir, not only is that the Swan, but it's mostly the convention center. Fortunately, Yacht Club actually does look like it would fit in that footprint.

I think Moana feels a bit more accessible for all. I'm by no means a Frozen hater, but I understand the backlash it gets, which is mostly born from wild instant success and then the subsequent monetization of that success by putting Frozen on everything. And to be fair, that's the playbook you want to play, strike while the iron is hot. Frozen definitely defaults into the princess category far more easily than Moana does, which again I think is a reason people strike points against it. Moana, while also very successful, had almost a quiet success, and was not over branded on merch and such. It's always a fine line to walk when putting the IP name on other things (merch, attractions, etc) Hopefully this wave of Moana love will be welcomed more warmyl than the Frozen typhoon.

It wasn't as big a phenomenon at the moment of its release and grew on streaming. What Moana got that Frozen didn't was backlash, leading no doubt to a restrained merchandising effort. Remember the Maui costume debacle? Remember Polynesian groups that assumed the character was meant to be the figure Moana and not just named after her who said the film was a misrepresentation of their mythology? Remember "Maui's Too Fat"-Gate?

What do you think the plot of this attraction will be? A book report, or a "takes place after the movie but still rehashes it" ride a la Frozen Ever After?

This is one situation where I think a sequel ride would be cool, if they made it have stakes. It could work as a book report as well. I think an FEA would be the worst option.

Does Big Hero 6 count as one, I would think Hiro Hamada becomes a Hero in ways even though he had to be reminded that of by Baymax or is Baymax the Hero ?

I would hope it is not a book report as it should focus on animals. Moana and Maui can guide us through Polynesian animals in and out of the water. With the help of a manta ray and Hei Hei.

I re-measured the Yacht Club on Google Maps. It seems to be less than 1,000' by 1,200' including parking, pools, etc.

If we move parking/convention center across Floridian way you can almost squeeze in both Yacht and Beach club with storm along bay.
