Moana 2 (Disney Animation - November 2024)

True, but need I remind you that Toy Story 2 was also meant to be a direct-to-Video movie (if not a series) before it became a movie too and look what happened there.
That was a miracle. If Moana 2 turns out as good as Toy Story 2 I'll be thrilled. But the fact that it was originally intended to be a Disney Plus show and was just reworked at the last minute has me VERY worried. I would feel 10x better about it if it was meant to be a movie from the start.

Was actually reworked a little after the failure of Wish and the debate over if Disney Animation should risk rushing Zootopia 2 or risking their next original movie of WDAS bomb in 2024, so they chose turning Moana’s series into a theatrical sequel instead.

And I think that's a problem. Instead of the decision to change it to a movie being "this is really good and I think this could work really well as a movie" it was "oh crap Wish failed what can we do make to a quick buck".

I think some of it also has to do with it being too strong of a franchise to bring Direct to D+. Moana has continued to grow over the last five years. This project was originally conceptualized prior to December 2020 and its immense takeoff on D+ was only starting.

That said, I don't think we need to be inherently afraid of it being rushed. Had it not been achievable they would have pushed it off to next year. Elio was very clearly moved in general for it. Supposedly the turnaround to a theatrical film was about 18 months. It's also a very long gesticulating project in general and sometimes editing things down helps make a stronger product.

I thought about that, but times were very different then so I don't if it translates. Disney didn't do theatrical sequels and Pixar was in its infancy. Disney/Pixar has made many sequels since then and Moana has been a huge hit. Making a theatrical sequel from the beginning was certainly a viable option.

Geez, and I thought I was over dramatic! As much as I hope Moana 2 will do well at the box office, butI don't think it'll be the end of WDAS. Even if Moana 2 didn't do well at the box office, Zootopia 2, Frozen 3, and 4 will be their secret weapons. After all, Frozen and Zootopia are Disney's money makers.;)

With only under 2 months til Moana 2 comes out, I should probably remind you how imperative it is that this film be a success, as
the fate of many animators and storytellers at Walt Disney Animation Studios rest on the success of this film at the global box office, which in turn rests on the quality of this film that hopefully will be shown strongly with the amount of effort the animators may still be finishing up as we speak to make it look lit.

Let us ensure that all the animators efforts on this movie does not end in vain, even with them going through what many of the animators at Pixar went through during the final days of the production of Inside Out 2 to make that movie be the savior of Pixar it ended up being.

Let us ensure, amidst the Animation Guild’s still-ongoing efforts, that another movie makes the supposed billion it makes to save those souls’ jobs and bring in many more to come, even with the chance of bringing back potentially veterans of Disney Animation to work on Tiana if it becomes a hand-drawn animated movie sequel to The Princess And The Frog, should Moana 2 making a billion give Disney the impression that maybe making more sequel series to Disney animated films of WDAS into sequel movies is better for a ROI than as a Disney+ series that would be watched by so little people.

It’s time… to make Walt Disney Animation Studios great again. Financially & creatively.
Look dude, I'm concerned with WDAS as you are, but I don't think iit's the end of WDAS. I think Moana 2 will be a box office success, because it's popular of DisneyPlus. As for Tiana, I don't think turning Tiana turning it to a movie sequel is necessary, even if it's hand drawn animated (which I'm starting to doubt that if it's hand drawn animated.) Besides, you don't want to do the same thing like I did, when I got upset when Wish flopped at the box office. I have minor anxiety attacks and it's not pretty. I just don't want you to go through the same thing like I did. Also, the article you read, it's not that Pixar will not survive, Pixar is just cleaning house to fix the mistakes they made like Lightyear. So, you need to stop worrying about Pixar and WDAS and just enjoy their classics whether they're hits or flops. So, try not to worry about it, okay? And try not to be too obsessed about hand drawn animation.

Well, we’ve gotta try with every shot we get to bring it back.

Here's a new look at Moana 2:

Well, it’s a good thing they’re showing off more of the new characters, teasing the new songs, and teasing the new villains, along with revealing the god of storms will talk. The only question now is who’s voicing the god of storms.

Also, this feels more like a trailer than a spot.

New poster.

And it’s officially rated PG, which means the Final Cut of the movie is locked and that production on it is almost finished.

Of good I was worried it would be rated R. ;)
I much prefer this character design to what Pixar is doing with Win or Lose and Elio. It still has the cringy reactions that we get in every Disney movie. The art style is still the same as the original movie so they didn't try something new. If you got a kid that likes the first one, they will like this one too. It's pretty harmless. It's not high on must see theater movies. I think it could wait for Disney+.

Watch your mouth, chump.

Win Or Lose and Elio’s animation styles don’t look cringy.

I didn't say they looked cringy. "It" refers to Moana and her over the top Disney reactions to everything. However Elio's character design isn't exactly pretty compared to rest of the industry. Moana 2's characters look far more detailed.
