MM&Y closing for replacement

I'm worried that they're going to do away with a real fireworks show and have watered-down version that combines the two. I hope that is just me being silly.

I do like MM&Y. I like each new one more than the last. The IASW part is heavenly. They need to just drop the dumb pictures of people, though.

I would like to see GWTS at Fantasmic. It would make that better. But I think it would be distracting during Wishes or RoE and wouldn't want it added there. They could probably set something up during MM&Y so that GWTS could be used and not distract.

I will be very happy when the new show starts and isn't watered down fireworks.

Awwww...you mean they aren't gonna hide them inside the MS upper floors?
Weak.

I was going to ask earlier if it was possible to use a lift system to hide the projectors during the day but decided against it. I take it from your comment that it is possible if they wanted to.

I'll defer that question to those more knowledgable about the situation. But...I think so.

It isn't. Well, it could be, but the lifts would have to be millimetre accurate and rock solid once in position.
Better to just hide the projectors.

They nearly did. But went for the Paris option. I dare say hiding inside The floorspace would mean more obstructions since they'd be a good 8-10 ft lower.

That was why I dismissed this thought earlier. I imagine the callibration required on these things is immense, and it would have to be performed nightly if put upon a moving platform...and heaven forbid the platform doesn't work one night.

I would think some thematic dressing could mitigate some of the problems with the projectors on the roof. I know you can't hide them entirely, but dressing them up to look like a chimney or throwing a water tower on top to draw the eyes away might do enough without being cost prohibitive.

Just my two cents.

They tried. It was laughably awful.

Is moving the projectors back and the new infrastructure that you are talking about possibly setting up for possibly adding "Dreams!" anytime soon?

NOOOO!!! We arrive Sept2, but don't have plans to get to MK until Sept 5th. We're going to miss MM&Y!!
I just hope it gets even better after this shutdown. This is an awesome show as it is right now.
They can get rid of the pictures of everyone. The pictures change so fast it hard to see.

It's funny how when being at the mk watching the pictures they are all blurry and hard to see but when you video tape it well iPhone it lol! They come out super clear! Is there a reason for this?

The mapping needed for calibration of those projectors is a royal pain. You have to have them on a solid, non-mobile location or the overlaps will look bad and out of focus. Not really sure how you can hide that setup. DL seems the easier setup since the area where the projectors are was never a heavy guest area. I had a friend work on the original calibrations and it just took them forever to get them set up right. I bet he is glad he is not working on it this time.

Maybe new projectors will fix that. Not sure what frame rates they were using. Must have matched up pretty close to the rate you were using on the iPhone.
