It doesn't hurt that this provides for some live games for ESPN and I think most if not all MLS games are available on ESPN+ - nice synergy for different division of the company.
Yep.

Some more info...
Unrelated to that article, I'm wondering if all the rumors of multiple resorts in the running for the NBA is because MLS is also now in the mix that will also need a home resort (or two).
It's been reported on a different board S/D will be hosting MLS.
Insert whistling emoji...
Since MLS is only doing a front-of-season all-teams tournament (instead of regular games) they'll only need housing for about six weeks, with most teams only needing four weeks after they're eliminated.
Swolphin has six weeks blocked out in one resort and four in the other.
So...
Yep, makes sense why the Swan will re-open on August 12 and Dolphin on July 30th. The way the tournament is structured, they will only need the Swan from the 30th on to August 12.MLS at the Swan and Dolphin confirmed

Are people, who didn’t watch the MLS before, now going to watch the tournament, because it’s at Disney?.. (and not much more is going on)
That would be a nice ratings jump if so, maybe bring in some new MLS fans, or soccer fans period.
Not that I have seen.
Was there some other source than the accidental mention in MSL's web page on hygiene?
This will be the first (major) American sports league to return (besides NWSL returning earlier), so I would imagine people bored at home would tune into ESPN on TV to watch! And MLS in general has been rising in popularity in the past few years, so this is the best exposure the league could get!!Are people, who didn’t watch the MLS before, now going to watch the tournament, because it’s at Disney?.. Don't forget to subscribe to ESPN+ to watch the games!!

The Bundesliga and soon the Premier League returns by MLS’s return date, so soccer fans around the world would be watching those primarily, unless they have been watching MLS pre-pandemic.
I picked it up listening to ESPN radio. They had a MLS rep on and he confirmed everything they were doing.

Also, I would think that if your city’s team is playing, it should be shown by a local broadcast network as well.. I would think they would have worked that into the deal. Does anyone know?
