Tonight's game is scheduled for 10:30 local time in SF? I wonder how their fans feel about that. But it's sure nice for us East Coast TV viewers.
4:30 local time in SF I thought? 3 hours behind eastern and its on at 7:30 on the east coast

So here we sit with the St. Louis Cardinals on the verge of heading back to the World Series for the 2nd year in a row, possibly repeating the title twice. We also have the SF Giants on the verge of tying up the NLCS back in San Fran, after an impressive win last night in the Cardinals' backyard. And finally, we have the Detroit Tigers going to the World Series & bringing with them a triple crown winner! So with all this excitement going on between all three teams...the media is buzzing with talk about....you guessed it...the New York Yankees. o_O

That's right folks, the Yankees still getting much more media spotlight than the actual teams still competing this season. How do they do this every year? The big debate now is what to do with A-Rod. Many are speculating he will remain in New York after this season, yet many other think he will be wearing a new uniform. I'm guessing he'll be given one more try as a Yankee. Granted, Curtis Granderson had a worse performance this postseason than A-Rod, and nobody ridicules him. A-Rod is a much bigger name, and thus, takes more of the blame.

Disgusting isn't it?

Great win tonight for the SF Giants!

Nothing like a nail-biting Game 7, which I am certainly looking forward to tomorrow night. The Giants are no stranger to miraculous comebacks this postseason, as anyone in Cincinnati can tell you. But the last time the NLCS had a Game 7...the St. Louis Cardinals won on the road (defeating the Mets in NYC). Oddly enough, the American League team waiting to play the Cardinals that particular year was the...Detroit Tigers. o_O

Will history repeat itself, or will the Giants have some more homefield magic like tonight?

I'll root for Detroit in the WS but given my track record this postseason they'll probably go paws up in 4 games.

Now this is gonna be a good World Series:
-First time San Fran & Detroit have ever met one another in the postseason.
-Great pitching on both sides.
-Great hitting (though it looks like SF has the upper hand a bit on offense).
-Detroit playing for redemption after their '06 loss to the Cardinals. SF playing to regain their '10 title.
-Electric/passionate crowds in both cities.

I'm liking this. :D

A note that I find interesting about the Giants. This year's position starters only have 2 players
from the 2010 team (Posey & Sandoval). There are other repeat bench players and pitchers however.

Seeing it on TV doesn't do justice to the torrential downpour that was taking place in the 9th of last night's Giants/Cardinals Game 7. I'd never seen a shower so strong without a rain delay being called. Then again, what good would it do considering the large run difference? I could understand if it was a 3-2 ballgame, the Cardinals have 2 runners on with 2 outs, sure... call the rain delay to avoid weather interference with a crucial out/run. But when the score is 9-0, there isn't much Mother Nature could do to hurt or help St. Louis or San Fran by that point.

Despite the bad weather, the San Fran fans stayed in their seats & enjoyed quite possibly the most memorable rain party the bay area has seen. And who wouldn't? One large soaked party watching your team win a crucial Game 7...not gonna lie, I wish I'd been there getting drenched with them. The Giants' players seemed to love the rain party (the Cardinals, not so much). Certainly one of the most fun & memorable ways the NLCS has ended in a long time.

St. Louis Cardinals fans should not lower their heads with shame. Considering the team lost their star slugger to the LA Angles, had a new manager this year, and barely made it into the playoffs via the 2nd NL wild card position...they should be pretty proud of how far the team came along this postseason. They also knocked-out a team (Washington) who many predicted to win the whole thing this year. Coming this close to the World Series was certainly admirable.

*passes out free drinks to all Cardinals fans in the room. Looks around...are there any Cardinals' fans still in the room?*

If free drinks are involved I'm still a Cards fan, but focused now on the blue and orange team beating the black and orange team. I'd love to see Leyland go out on top like LaRussa did last year.

Speaking of managers I see the Marlins fired Ozzie Guillen. I wonder who will replace him. Bobby V is available. If they were dumb enough to hire Ozzie in the first place maybe they're dumb enough to hire Bobby.

LOL
Could you imagine?

@Nemo14 & her Red Sox have stolen one of our managers from the Jays. Though I'd rather see him go to Boston than New York, so no hard feelings. Didn't have much to work with in Toronto anyway. :(

2 hours 'til World Series time!!!!

Go Tigers!!! World Series Game 1 in SF tonight at 8:07 eastern time...my prediction (and I LOVE the Giants, they are my National League team that I have followed for 20 years)...they don't hold a stick to the TIgers -- it will be the Tigers in 4 or 5 games at most...

S A N D O V A L ! ! !

What a night for San Francisco's Pablo Sandoval. 4 hits, 3 of them home runs. Sandoval made history tonight, joining Babe Ruth, Reggie Jackson, & Albert Pujols as the only players to hit 3 homers in a single World Series game.

And it wasn't just Sandoval. The Giants as a whole seemed to be doing everything right tonight; picking up where they left off after Monday's NLCS game 7. Barry Zito with an incredible start, Tim Lincecum was superb as relief. It all came together brilliantly tonight for San Francisco. What a way to hit the ground running in game 1. Still though, anything can happen, and Detroit is not a team to roll over & quit. A lot of baseball left to go.

Now the big question: Did Detroit's lengthy period of rest after sweeping the Yanks early cause them to be stale tonight? Looking at many past World Series', having a longer period of rest prior to Game 1 is not necessarily your ally. In many cases it hurts you rather than helps... especially when going up against a fired-up team just off a dramatic LCS finish.

Like I said though, a lot still remains, and anything can still happen.

Can't believe Verlander is now 0-3 career in the WS. Hope he gets another chance in game 5, but the way the Giants are playing lately there may not even be a game 5.
