A 3-run 7th for the blue boys have things tied up at Shea, 4-4. Can the Met bullpen hang in there and help them to a win without El Duque?

The Dodgers make some noise in the 9th, but NY's other team holds on and wins its opener, 6-5.

Now to see if the Yankees can put the Tigers on the verge, or if Detroit can get a split in the Bronx before heading home.

We may or may not get a third game in tonight, depending on the weather. Weird how they can play a game in Queens with no problem and then have a rainout in the Bronx an hour later.

I've been out for most of the day, but now firmly planted in playoff land again.

The Tigers' win earlier takes a Yankee sweep off the board, but just about everybody is still in the running to get full credit for the series.

The Padres are having trouble finding any offense at the moment, down 2-0 in the game and looking to avoid dropping the first two at home.

But...they do drop both. The Cardinals join the A's in the position of going home up 2-0, with 2 chances to wrap up the series in front of the partisans.

Ex-Brave Tommy Glavine pilots the Mets to a Game 2 win, so ex-Brave Greg Maddux will take the hill on Saturday to try and keep the Dodgers alive.

After 2 games, the Twins, Padres, and Dodgers are all on the brink. All together, those 3 teams are the World Series winner pick for 7 of 10 people here. Can any of them fight off elimination and advance to Round 2? We'll find out in the coming days.

The A's appear to have the broom in hand, with a 4-0 lead on the Twinkies in Game 3. Could this series really turn out to be a sweep?

Out for most of the day again. The A's knock out the Twins against everyone's predictions, and the Tigs have put the Yankees on the brink. With one series in the book, it's time to break out the standings for the game so far.

So here are the official standings following the Minnesota-Oakland series. Keep up the good work, everybody :lookaroun

1. BJ 0
1. James 0
1. Scott 0
1. dopey 0
1. Shannon 0
1. Chris 0
1. Sherman 0
1. DisneyRoxMySox 0
1. GenerationX 0
1. Laura 0

These could change heavily after tomorrow, since all three remaining series play potential clinch games.

Three do or die games are on the table today. In the first, the Padres are looking to stave off the Reaper, jumping on top of the Cardinals 3-0 in St. Louis. Chris Young has given up 1 hit and struck out 7 Cards through 4 innings.

The Padres stay alive with a 3-1 win on the road. In the context of our game, the result doesn't really hurt anyone. The people who picked SD keep their pick alive, and none of the people who picked St. Louis had a sweep.

Should Detroit's 3-0 lead hold up in Game 4, it'll be a different story for a lot of people. :lookaroun
