Something about that just sounds like it should be illegal
We can agree to disagree on the issue of home field advantage, and we certainly do, but the issue of grounds crew field manipulations is well documented.

Have you ever heard of scoreboard cheating with the calling of signals? San Francisco, Milwaukee, etc...

Gotta go. The Sox game is on.

I'm not saying that it doesn't happen. I just think it should be against the rules.

But yes, we can agree to disagree.

Jeter's done for the year. The Yanks have decided to shut him down. Probably the right choice. To be honest, I wished he took the Derrick Rose approach and rested and rehabed until 100% ready. I blame management for rushing him and not doing anything to address the problem earlier. When the season ends, I think it's the time for the Yankees to blow up their entire roster and start over.

Hm, time for an update. I pick the Red Sox to sit comfortably in first place in the AL East during early September. Boy, that would be great.

Nationals are making a late season run at the Reds for the 2nd NL wild card. But I don't see the Reds collapsing the way the Braves and Red Sox did in Sept. 2011.

The Nats/Braves game has been postponed today due to the tragic shooting at the D.C. area Naval base.

Day/Night double-header scheduled for tomorrow.

What I find remarkable is that the Rays and A's have without question, the absolute worst stadiums in the league, small payrolls and yet, here they are, both of them likely to make the postseason.

A lot of small market teams may be in the playoffs, at least for the wild card games.

The national media would love a Dodgers-Red Sox WS, not just because they're big markets. They both had huge turnarounds from miserable seasons last year. And they made a big trade with each other last year.

So Rivera's jersey number is retired along with Metallica actually playing at Yankee Stadium today. And now, Pettitte is calling it a career after this season. (I don't think Pettite will be in the HOF based on the numbers of the regular season and the whole admission to HGH usage.) A retired number for the Yankees? Possibly.... Anyway, a big three game series against Tampa is coming up. They've been up and down all month long but this series is huge. Lose two or all three, they're done once and for all.
