alright... now for the preshow/postshow description

You enter... (duh), follow the queue, and enter through a set of Glass doors. Once you're in, it's cold... COLD cold. The interior is very dark and cold... but it's not depressing. It looks industrial. There are space vehicles on the ceiling on display, as well as a HUGE circle on the right, which represents the living areas on a space station. Go straight a bit more, and on the right you'll see Mission control and on the left a series of Plaques representing Humankinds trips to the moon. Once you're past that, the preshow begins. You are grouped in groups of 4 (10 groups of 4). Once that happens, the video with Gary Sinise begins....

after the video, you are loaded on the vehicles and the fun starts.

the post show... I already described it.. lol

Oh, are there any space-related exhibits in the queue? Stuff like Hubble pics, moon rocks, rocket models, etc?

actually yeah...

Thanks again for the info! :D

either one can work.. but I like the second one better

so does eveyone in entertainment get to go to the previews or just those who are based in epcot like you? -also do you choose which is your 'home' park or is that randomly chosen for you?

thanks again:cool:

uhh.. since entertainment is global, all entertainment CM's are technically Epcot CM's. I chose Epcot as my home park since it's the closest park to where I live (thus easier to get my paycheck)

alright.. this is just an afterthought.. BUT..

if Disney were to open a Ginger Ale/sliced bread cart outside Mission: Space, it'd be a total success

Ginger snaps before the ride and a teaspoon of Coke syrup after the ride! :D

Or eveyone could head over to Ice Cool Station for some Beverly...

I just got home from work... I was at Epcot tonight, so I stopped by Mission: Space for my lunch break. Being that I didnt have much time, I kinda rushed through it... Im hoping to go back to get more of a detailed look.

I couldn't have said it any better than Rob... a few minor details that I will add:

The queue area is really nice. It looks as if it will be half inside, half outside. The inside part is really cool. Once you get close to the ride, you pass what looks to be the Control Center... and actual CM's are working in it. The side of the console that faces the guest is all done up with mockup controls and whatnot, the side that we can't see is probably the rides equivilent of the control tower.

I didn't like how when we were sent off to stand on the numbers... the numbers are VERY close to each other, and I felt kind of cramped. I like my personal space, you know? (By the way, I was not cramped at all inside the ride itself) This part of the ride, I felt there could have been more. You wait and wait and wait... then the pre-show comes on... and it ends, and you wait some more and wait some more. Make the video longer, so the waiting doesnt feel so long.

From the numbers, you then proceed into another room (Actually, its a hallway), with more numbers. I can see how this might cause confusion with some other guests... The video screen that was in this second "hallway" was on the blip... wasn't as clear as it should have been, and was flickering and whatnot. I hope they fix that.

There's a lot of following arrows, lines, and numbers. Our "team" managed just fine, but I could see how some guests may have trouble. (Im thinking the ones that come up to my bus and ask where it goes, despite the big LED sign that says EPCOT)

The ride itself kicked monkey butt. At the end, I was a little queasy for about a half hour... nowhere near creating a mess or anything... It was all good though. Im thinking those who get motion sickness easily might want to bypass the ride, and go to the post-show area. (By the way, I can do Star Tours just fine... but I cannot do Body Wars)

One thing that I really liked... inside the pod... they had fresh air blowing on you... simmilar to if you turn on the air in an airplane. I thought this was a nice touch, and probably helps with the motion sickness.

Sounds really great,
What about the instructions?
Are they easy to follow by anyone?
If you don’t, do you enjoy the ride the same way?,
does it spoils the feelings for the rest of the team?
And if so, what happens if there only 3 persons in the cabin?

Lots of questions,
Sorry

the instructions are really easy to follow... if you don't do one, or you're missing a person, the computer takes over for that person

I have my ideas of how it works, but I'd rather wait a bit to discuss that... sorry. No.. you don't get the feeling of going upside down, but you do go on your back

I should be there Aug 15-19th, so I hope I get to ride it once. Just how do they pull of the weightless effect? (I mean, unless it's some Disney "Secret" that just can't be posted =b )...

they didn't tell me how it works (with good reason.. WDI still controls 2 of the centrifuges).. but I have my ideas. I'd just rather wait till the attraction opens to the general public so we can have a discussion about this

Well I went yesterday to Epcot just to see the area and spoke to the woman with Epcot Events. She thinks that regular CM previews will be next week......for anyone wondering the area music was up and running and even the music is extreamly powerful I was getting choked up just sitting looking at the building and listening to the music.

Great Report!

Thanks for all of the information! It is truly exciting!!!

A couple of questions...As I'm older and prone to some motion sickness I (sadly) have doubts as to my participation, but...

While neither of you guys have...Uh, well, hurled...Is there any evidence of anyone else having trouble yet?

Also, is the feeling of "spinning" very evident?

Lastly, the weightlessness, is it effect or real? How long do you "float"?
