Just got back an hour ago from MK. Heres the update:

  • Tarps are down at the kitchen shop next to Harbor House. Looks really nice!
  • Work continues on the pavement and buildings for Rapunzels bathrooms
  • They have officially started putting rock work on the Mine Train mountain
  • They have a Fantasyland section in the Art on Demand kiosk on Main Street and I came across two pieces of artwork. One is for the tea cups with the glass roof ( may just be Paris' artwork ) and the other one wasn't labeled but looks as if it could be the Rapunzel bathrooms
I just want to add, I don't know why twitpic won't upload the photos any larger than they are showing up. I know in the past they would show up quite large. I even took the long route of emailing myself the photos and uploading them on the computer rather than through my phone in hopes that that would fix the problem but it doesn't. I'll try to upload a couple of the more interesting photos later using photobucket or something and post them in this thread.

Thanks for the pics. It is a shame that they don't show up larger I would like to see larger versions of some of these to make out the details. The piece of art you mention that might be Tangled is actually from Paris:

The Tea Cups image is from Paris as well. Although I can't post the true image right now, the floral wisps and that castle-like structure in the rear with the gonfalons waving on top are an absolute match for Paris. If you Google DLP, you can zoom in to street-view within the park and see this for yourself.

Does anyone know if they are going to put some trees back next to the yankee trader? Maybe a small row right between the building and the new walkway...this might be a good way to help blend the areas a little better and hide the tower within those site lines.

Love the color of the new Yankee Trader, but I agree, it looks like an island with out the trees. Hopefully trees are in the works.

I have to say that while I love the Rapunzel tower as a touch for Fantasyland I am now having a bad reaction to it from the angle in these photos. I really think it was a mistake, but will hold off on a final judgement until the landscaping is all done.

That before and after photo of Yankee Trader is so jarring! The tower does look completely out of place and the trees that were once there looked so much better. I too am wondering if trees will be added to obscure the tower from the Liberty Square view. I don't recall ever seeing anyone with landscaping knowledge chime in on what's possible. I know the trees that were there before were very old...and putting in tall trees is very expensive. Maybe Disney will just allow trees it plants to grow taller and eventually obscure the Rapunzel tower...or maybe it will really spring for the tall trees to go in now.

I really want to hop on a plane right now and inspect all this in person but will have to wait until May for my next trip to the World. I am so fascinated by how they are going to make this transition area between Fantasyland and Liberty Square work when it's completed.

They just have to add a bunch more trees, don't they?

I wish I knew more about landscape design to figure out what they could do. I will have to ask a good friend of mine who knows more on this topic than I do.

Looks a lot less nautical now, I wonder if they are changing the purpose/name of the Yankee Trader. I'm going to miss the trees..

That picture was taken over 30 years ago. Look at what the girl is wearing. Girls don't dress like that anymore. ;)

Anybody know why the drastic change in colour scheme for Yankee Trader?
Patricia, that was a very interesting post. You are usually so positive; sometimes (dare I say) nauseatingly so. I had to double check that it was actually you. I can't wait to read your take once you've seen things first-hand in May.
I would expect that some trees will be added, before the final reveal.

I think scrims went up on the other side across from Yankee Trader as well (near Columbia Harbour House or it may even be part of it).
The new building does look great in person.
