But I think this one was actually intentional. :
I agree with this one, but if you are looking for symbolism in anything, you'll find it.

I liked English, but I hated poetry, and I hated the liberal teachers pushing their agendas though the "symbolism" and "meaning" of stories and poems.

When he mentioned poems, it made me think of two things: Shakespeare's sonnets and Emily Dickinson.
I usually think Frost, followed by Ulysses, and John Dunne (sp?).

I like most Frost poems, although many have become cliché.
Ulysses was burned into my skull by my English teacher.
I hate John Dunne's work.

Oh, yeah, I totally agree with you.

As someone famous (I can't remember who) once said: "You take out of a story what you bring into it." Or something along those lines. Everyone sees symbols differently.

This is actually kind of funny becasue (going back to it again) this is all discussed in The Da Vinci Code. There was a quote that Langdon said. I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was something like asking what a symbol meant was like asking someone what their favorite type of car was.

Which is very true.

I am, next week. Guess it's something you have to live in my head to understand....

I don't live in your head...
But I don't care.
It's not something to put off.
Never.
Don't.

Donne.

One day I had an epiphany about him and The Incredibles. He wrote something called "No Man Is An Island" about how people need to work together.

In The Incredibles, Syndrome's Island is called Nomanisan Island. Nomanisan Island. I was shocked. What's MORE is that The Incredibles is about how Mr. Incredible can't defeat Syndrome on his own and needed help from his family.

I used to not like that movie, but I gained a whole new respect for it that day.

Wow.
Nice catch.
