Why is it that as soon as I leave this entire board fails to pieces?
Who would have thought I'm the one who keeps order around here.
How ironic. :lookaroun

And may I ask how this board has fallen apart?
Unless, of course, you're refering to Wafflefest, in which case you have a point.

I was 14 years old in 1968.
What a time!
MLK and RFK were both assassinated that year.
On the day of my 8th grade graduation, I came home from the ceremony and watched RFK's funeral on TV all day.
Viet Nam was going strong and so many boys from the neighborhood didn't make it home.
It was an amazing time to live.
Turbulent but very alive.
Everyone was interested and had an opinion on everything.
Now there is so much apathy.
I was a senior in HS. I had to give my speech at graduation about the impact of the assasinations of JFK, MLK, and RFK. I had the whole audience in tears.

and I used to tape my bangs down at night to keep them from curling up, thus revealing my eyes.

ROFLMMEO!!! With that pink tape? My mom did that to me too...she used to put my hair in curlers every Sunday and Wednesday nights...

Let's see...
April Fools Jokes are running rampid.
MJ's Posse is in a 60s haze. :lookaroun
And the battle for Wafflefest has begun!

Oh my.
Imagine that, having to make a speech at a graduation on such a topic.
But for us it was not strange.
That was our life. Those deaths were such a part of it.

I totally agree Dot, I 've always felt like I was born one generation to late...I just don't fit in with the Gen X'ers

You're oly 15 years older than me :D

No, just plain old scotch tape or whatever we had in the house (we couldn't afford the fancy pink stuff). Sometimes it would leave a litlle sticiness to the bangs!

Well it is April Fool's Day!

Would you really want to deprive the oldheads on this forum a few moments of reminiscence?

As for Wafflefest - that's what happens when you throw us over for a video game!

It was only 2 weeks after RFK's demise, so we were all still in quite a turmoil then. My oldest brother was off to VietNam, my next oldest to Turkey, and here I was not knowing how to feel - do I support the troops or support my gut feelings, etc.

The 60s are a fascinating decade... but I'm glad I wasn't around then.
Somehow I don't think I'd get along well with the Flower Power people. :lookaroun

Yeah, it was hard to be on either side of that.
Two of my classmates lost brothers who were only 4 years older than us.
At our age, we couldn't understand this.
We just wanted it all to stop.

Peace and love probably wouldn't have been your style.
You'd be the angry young hippie leading the demonstrations.
