We have one bathroom with a tiny closet, so I have to store the 50or so rolls in the basement. Amazingly enough, I'm apparently the only one in the house who knows where they are though, since I'm always the one who has to replenish the upstairs supply!

I am also the only one who knows how to replace the empty roll on the holder. It's not rocket science!

Exactly.
But spanking used as regular punishment, I don't agree with.
When they were in grade school, my girls had friends (two sisters) who could count on a spanking if they came home with less than 90 in any subject on their report card. I can't imagine instilling that kind of fear. That's abusive in my book.

My children were spanked VERY rarely, and each can remember where, when, and why...sort of.

The Son says it had to do with "fine china." he was climbing on a counter, and was hanging onto the glass fronted doors of the china cabinet. My husband usually hides candy there, so I assume that's what he was after.

I can't remember why the daughter got a spanking (she's 23, so it's been a while) but she tells me that it so impressed her that she decided to NEVER do anything to make mommy angry again. She says she didn't think I'd ever hurt her, but she was never SURE I wouldn't. Now, I'm sure she could tell you why she got spanked. ;)

She'd never get away with that now, but back in the day it was perfectly OK for a teacher to do that!
I also had a junior high teacher who would throw chaulk at you to get your attention.

Oh yes, the old peg them with a piece of chalk routine.
The nuns had that one down to a science.

One bathroom has a toilet paper stand, and "people" will place the new roll on top of it. C'mon, how much longer does it take to actually take the old cardboard off and put the new roll on?
Kind of like placing the dishes in the diswasher instead of the sink - it's almost like work you know!

The punishment made impressions on your kids because it wasn't random. They certainly learned from it. Some people use hitting in place of words as a matter of routine. It has no effect then but to instill fear.

Never went to a catholic school. and didn't have any teachers throw chalk at me.:p I was good at school but not at home. I was the problem child. I ran away from home but didn't get very far. They new how to get me home. Dad would come looking for me and when he found me(down the street) he would tell me mom was making my fav. meal. I would always go back home.
