Oh, I love it. It's hilarious.

Of course he isn't serious in it. It's a satire on the condition Ireland was in under the rule of England in the 1700s. Lots of poverty, lots of poor mothers, lots of poor mothers with 5+ children. Swift's "solution" was to sell the babies so that the poor people could earn money, the starving people would get food, and the economy would get boosted.

A win-win situation...:lookaroun

I-Mom's will run those baby eaters out of here... and the baby sellers...

the thought of selling your child for food is just horrible.. I couldn't imagine being that poverty stricken... how sad and horrible...

Well we can work on it.
I tend to be positive in conversations.
I prefer to be private in real life.
While my friends will talk about health issues and in-law problems, etc., I don't like to do that.
I try to keep things upbeat.
If you met me, you would probably not see me as a worrier.
I'm a private worrier.

That's what makes it so funny. Well, sort of. At least, that's what makes it a satire. Of course he wasn't serious.

I can't imagine how this subject could be funny. Oh well.

It must be interesting try to compare it to Angela's Ashes.
If I were the mother in that book, I would have sold my husband for food. Worthless drunk.
