News Mizner's Lounge to be expanded at Disney's Grand Floridan Resort into a Beauty and the Beast inspired lounge

Few things make one feel truly whisked away to the Florida Coast like a bar with classical Baroque designs and French furnishings.

Themed entertainment should be more than placing the customer "inside" a movie. What story is this telling? Or more appropriately, as it's within an already themed environment, what story is this space reinforcing? The story, at least to me, is "you're in Disney", and very little else.

this..... sadly its all about chuffing in IP in every nook and cranny. And enough with the beauty and the beast stuff already, between this and toy story its like thats all they have to use?? But more importantly before you know it each resort will be rethemed/renamed to a specific movie ip, instead of its original theme. And that concept art looks as generic as some of the recent yacht club changes.

The Floridian is 1800's Victorian -- which is more of a time than any one place. A lot about Disney World is Victorian, the EPCOT resorts and of course The Crystal Palace was a structure created by Victoria's first cousin and husband, Albert. :) Beauty and the Beast happened in the 1700's, but it's more fitting in this building than say Main Street USA!

This totally depends on how they do it. If this is a grand lounge appropriate for WDW's signature resort, and it has small "nods" to Beauty and the Beast, that's one thing. The initial rendering looks that way. It reads nice lounge to me - you have to look deeper to see the inspiration.

If the Beauty and the Beast push is just a marketing gimmick so the execution issubtle (like the Fantasia Lounge at Disneyland Hotel at DLP) - and leaving the name Mizner's or something else subtle like "Maurice's" - I think I'm ok with it. I would much prefer something thematically appropriate. But, this feels much like the redo at Yacht Club - pulling it out of the time period. But, now making it feel a bit more like a "historic" building with modern elements.

If this ends up being like Trattoria or Artist's Point - where the characters are truly forced in and made the focus - I have bigger concerns.

This should be more subtle Disney Bounding and less Disney Costume.

This is said to be Beauty and the Beast themed (live action version) when it reopens.
Well
I can confirm that.

Hmmm....choice of theme makes no sense.

Think? What old bar can’t use a 30 year old cartoon layover?

Here comes “belles enchanted soirée for your little princess”

$329 sound about right?

I wish I was dreaming all this stuff...I do

Anybody else dreading this? Not for the shoehorning of more IP but the fact that this is going to appeal to more kids...and then there's gonna be kids all over one of the few known "adult" spaces at Disney? The resorts have their own like...tucked away bars/lounges that are just soooo peaceful....After nearly being knocked over at 1030pm by two kids running and I do mean running into Abracadabar a few years ago and their father yelling at ME about it, I'm always a bit overprotective of any space that's legitimately meant for adults...but I'm picturing something like this

On one hand: The parents of the kids would still need to be able to afford it

On the other hand: Those that can afford it and have kids are well aware of it
