I have never gone on this ride always been too afraid. I know they have made a less intense version and was wondering how less intense is it? I have read that in the original version people feel like their face is being pulled off. Do you get the same feeling riding the green version? Any information will be helpful? Thanks!

The "pull your face off" feeling is intense g-forces. Your simulator spins very quickly to create these g-forces, though if you look at your screen it won't feel like you're spinning. In the "less-intense" version of the ride, the simulator does not spin, so no crazy force-feelings on your body.

It didn't feel like I was getting my face pulled off. What I did feel was an intense pressure on my chest that made me cough at one point. Luckily, that was a brief feeling and partially due to my allergies. Those without allergies in my party didn't have that feeling at all.

I'm curious as to how less intense the new version is. My husband has never been on it before, wants to go and has issues with asthma. I want to be able to suggest the less intense version for him, because I don't want him to have an attack.

The physical part wasn't what bothered me. It was the idea of the silence and loneliness of space that got to me. I'd be a terrible astronaut.

BOTH versions OK

I've been on both NO, problems!
Somehow feel the rides PR hype
pre-scares  riders. Think just about
anyone could handle GREEN version!
Have FUN!

The Green version has no spinning at all. Though I haven't ridden Green yet, I'd presume it's pretty close to Star Tours, perhaps just updated technology with more range of motion.
The spinning Orange version is able to provide many more sensations than Star Tours ever could. If you can ride the Rotor at your local amusement park (spinning room where you stick to the wall and the floor drops down), you can ride Orange.

Orange makes its effects by a rotating pod, which you sit in, on the end of an arm. This arm spins - the centrifuge - to create various G forces. In green, the arm dosn`t spin but the pod still rotates - albeit mildly.

Orange offers very good positive G forces on the body - head pushed back in seat, difficulty in moving arms, stomach sinking into your toes - but these are gradual changes unlike a launched coaster. They are also sustained forces unlike cresting a coasters hill. There is also a simple but clever zero G effect where you are tricked into believing you are floating. Green has none of these, though you sit in an identical pod and have all the same audio and video as Orange.

Green offers not nearly as many as the orange sensations but is still fun. You may do what we did - put off the attraction for 2 weeks, then on our last evening we rode green, loved it and ran right round and rode Orange. And again. Just heed all safety warnings.

Green is very tame, especially when compared to orange. The only thing is, if your claustrophobic both sides will be an issue. But other than that, I would say give green a shot.

I rode it the week it opened. The next trip I rode the "Orange" and thought it WAS the toned down version. I don't know if I just remember it being more intense, or if they really did tone it down over all.

I can't tolerate spinning at all and I had no problems with the green version.
I actually enjoyed it, have ridden it several times, and will do so again.
I'm somewhat claustrophobic and was a bit anxious when I saw the size of the space I was required to fit into, but, the screen in front of me made the space seem more open and I was very comfortable.
The ride does jostle and bump a bit, but that's about it.
I've never ridden orange and know I never will, but green...definitely a fun experience!

I unfortunately can't offer advice about the Green side, but I will say that I rode Orange recently with my dad and he is absolutely terrible on anything that spins (he even feels nauseous on Primeval Whirl!) But he had zero problems with Mission: Space Orange. I agree with some of the other posts that say that it is a very tight space, so whichever side you chose, be aware that if you have any issues with claustrophobia, you might want to skip the ride all together. Personally, I think they try to excite and scare you more with the pre-show and everything that comes before the ride, than the actual ride experience itself.

Alright, I've been on both, I think Orange is the only ay to experience M:S. I can't ride Dumbo without getting sick, but Orange never has bothered me at all. Heck, Green made more nauseated than Orange.

Thanks everyone! Your advice has all been helpful! :) I think I will give the green version a try. I was also wondering, I have read that each person has to perform a task like pushing a button. How do you know what button to push? Does it matter if you dont do anything? Thanks!

As Gary Sinese says, "Don't worry. When it's time to push the buttons, they'll light up. Then I'll give you the 'Go'." :)

(In actuality, if you don't push the buttons there's a "Computer Override" and the computer activates them anyway)

That is our favorite part of it.

My kids and I ride and we lean over and mess with each others controlls. WE flop switches and push buttons and tell each other we are going to cause the ship to crash. We also make up terms as we are doing it

"I just disengaged your gimble lock"

"Yeah, well I am overloading your flux capacitor"

It amuses us :)

My daughter and I do the same thing. The first time we rode, we followed the instructions exactly. By our third ride we were flipping switches and smacking each other’s hands away.

My friends and I like to play with the other random switches and buttons in the cabin before takeoff and during the flight. Some of them actually do things and aren't just dummy buttons.

If you've never done it, play with some of them next time. Some activate audio chirps and beeps, others light up when pressed or turn a panel light on and off.
