Hey, I have a question.

When looking at some of Kevlightyears pictures on Mission: Space, I noticed a strange object on what looks like Earth. Does anyone know what this is?

Feel free to use this post to discuss any other comments or questions about the Planets outside M:S as well.

I was at Epcot on June 13, 2002 with my girlfriend and despite the early morning rain (it started raining at 10am), we took a walk over to Mission Space to see how the construction was coming along. I didn't take any pictures of the construction, but that thing around the earth is connected to a model of the space shuttle. I guess it's supposed to look like an exhaust/vapor trail blasting off from the USA (my guess would be Cape Canaveral). The next time I go to Epcot (which will be in August 2002), I'll take the picture and post it.

Once inside the "red ball" guests will choose one of three lines (Standby, Singles and Fastpass) which are all within the structure. It's big folks, much bigger than it looks...

Just as an added FYI... The berm on the right hand side of the main building is now being landscaped... I was in the park today and they had planted a number of full-size trees and various other plants...

ahaa.. so it that what they ment by the Mission:Space being designed with Fast Pass in mind. So I guess the intent is to have the Fast Pass inside the attraction.

WOW, I don't know about you guys, but it sounds like the Space building is going into overdrive as far as finishing the exterior is concerned... trees, painting, and even a marquee almost complete. I would guess they are well ahead of schedule at this point.

So, does everyone feel that the other Cut out in the red planet is the exit, the one to the right, in the shadow?

I think the Exit will be somewhere near the much ignored left hand dome building, though Compaq made them promise it didn't exit through a store.

Maybe the left hand dome building with its wide entrance area will be a store, and they will exit under the VIP lounge.

I guess I worded my response wrong. What I'm saying are those ovals (right where plant earth is in the first post) for Fass Pass Distrubution?!? You know the usual Standy and Fass Pass Distro signs that are on every FP attraction.

I see what you are talking about, I thought they were for light fixtures and didn't think any more about them. Don't you think the line will be out the building for a while, if so then this would be a bad spot for Fast Pass, since the lines should block guests from getting to it if it was for FastPass, Just a thought.

I agree...but who knows...because look where the FastPass is for Test Track...and it doesn't get blocked.

The main planet is supposed to represent Mars, and we walk in the planet to get FastPass. I have no idea on the others; but they appear to be Jupiter or Saturn...

The only thing I can see that could postpone it would be the interactive elements in the ride and the post show.

Can we see a post show oppening before the attraction like Test Track, along with the courtyard.

When we see the preview center in Innoventions close, it will be time. :)

Last I heard from one of the managers over there is you will be able to exit directly from the post show or go into the shop first and then exit.

The shop is an add-on to the original design of the building.

Looks like the swoosh is a Marquee after all, the spaceship is now at the end and there seems to be amble room for Letters to fit. So I guess earth and Mars it is for now. What's the other planet???

The "Swoosh" says "SPACE" underneath the plastic wrapped around it.

Did i mention the Earth now spins? Yay!

They took the plastic wrap off and you can see SPACE anytime you want now.

Earth spins every so often as they work on it. The multicolor sponge painted chrome looks seems to be staying.

Lots of little plants awaiting planting in the rear of the building and the last thing i recall was a truck full of pipes saying it was from an irrigation company.
