Well, I guess my intent on this thread was to find someone "in the know" who could shed some light on the swoosh and possibly tell us what planets they are, if any. Maybe they are cosmic Billards.... ooooooooo!:animwink:

Didn't mean to direct it towards you Spidey...
This thread just kinda veered away from your question and got into a big "scale and size" discussion...which is okay but unless someone officially knows...it would've gone on forever.

Hey...have you seen MIB??? They might be giant marbles (remember the VERY ENDING)

Then...

Well if we don't care about the relative size of the planets than I don't see why the big red one would be the sun. It makes perfect sense to me that it is Mars and the reason it is bigger than the other planets is because that is the main focus of the ride itself. Also, if Disney were to make a sun it would most certainly be yellow not red. I don't see any reason for them to make it red even if many "Stars/Suns" are red. Remember, the big red planet has been there ever since I can remember and we always assumed it was Mars. Let's not get confused just because other planets were added.

It probably is earth, jupiter and the sun....scale isn't important...if so, Jupiter would have to be about the size of test track, and the sun would take up more room than epcot. :)

Hmm they could have painted SE yellow and made that the sun...
 just kidding!!

okay here's a thought on the swooshies...
Maybe they represent the revolutions of the earth. ya know, how they spin on thier own axes (e.science ex-major) ehh who knows...

I wasn't referring to anyone. I'm just trying to keep my questions fresh on the posts. Maybe my Dark, menacing Spider-man is intimidating some people, I think I will change it to something more friendly. But, I'm gonna keep it so I can turn Evil sometimes like Fievel does sometimes with that Red Eyed Avatar of his. Maybe I should add some more things to show I'm mad when I have that one up, suggestions? I believe I will start a post to see which Avatar everyone likes the best. TTFN.

Earth is supposed to be the Marquee. Yes, i was told it was Earth, and because of it being a marquee, I expect the something akin to the spacecraft itself attached to the end (thus not installed yet) with the name of the attraction as well.

well, if you look carefullyat this concept art image:

you will notice that earth isn't even there, just a spaceship with swirly metal around it.
So, probably the metal "swoosh" will have the spaceship on it.

Maybe ...The thing with concept art is that its a dream and not realistic to the final result and also costs sometimes plays into the final product. Like here in the original concept for the living seas.

http://www.intercot.com/edc/LivingSeas/lsconstr.html

This concept picture shows a drawing of the layout of The Seas. Notice that the whole section on the right is the ride-thru section that the two descriptions talked about above. Then the ride vehicles pass into the aquarium tank and then visitors proceed into the exhibit area on the left side.

This is obviously not what was built in the end. Because of rising costs on the aquarium tank, the decision was made to take a more scientific approach to the introduction to the pavilion. Instead of a longer ride, a movie would be shown.

I believe that the red ball is supposed to represent the "red planet" maybe ya no...most people use mars as the apitimy of the unknown and space which disney will most definately go into the unknown thats what they r good at...and look at it this way if disney wants it to represent the sun the disney damn well can let it represent the sun just because they r disney and no one will argue with that...either way im sure it will be an enjoyable ride and it better be open by july of next summer...my visit...:D

I went and looked today and the swoosh now has a space vehicle attached to the end and it's headed to the red sphere.
also the letters SPACE were sitting on the swoosh behind the ship. So I guess like someone said "It's the Marquee" for the Pavillion.

Not related to the planets, but looking at Spider-Man's picture at the start of the post, you see two oval indentions next to the Mars planet. I'm guessing this is for the Fast Pass, right? I believe I heard that this is the first attraction designed for Fast Track in mind.

When you think about it, that entrace could serve as both standby and fastpass entry...they just split the entrance in half....
