Mission Space gettin' sick

I suggest you ride the green version first, and then if you feel like that wasn't exciting enough for you, try the orange version. My mom usually gets sick on all other spinning rides, but she loves the orange version of Mission: Space. Really, you can't feel the spinning; rather you feel the g-forces created by the spinning which, in my opinion, isn't nearly as bad.
Everyone else is right, though. You should not look side to side or close your eyes on this ride since you don't like spinning rides.
You should definitely try it, though! It ended up being my entire family's favorite ride!

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Wow... all the precautionary tips make M:S sound like a chore. I had no problem with it, but the only rides I dislike are those that hold you upside-down for a while. I was expecting the worst getting on (the Orange one) and was pleasantly surprised with how fun and NOT nausiating the ride was (though I didn't care for the whole "push the button, commander!" story line). Speaking of, what happens if you DON'T push the button...?

I got a question. I went on the spinning version of MS and didn't get sick. But, I didn't care much for the ride. I am heading down in October, and I want to give MS another chance, but, I really don't want to do the spinning version. So, if I go on the green team, how do you feel the same effects if you aren't spinning???

To me the orange version is he only way to go. The spinning is what makes the ride feel like a thrill ride. You will spin fast.... but not for very long. The ride gives you a break between aggressive spins. And because you are enclosed it is much easier to tolerate. If you could see the outside world whizzing past it might be trouble. One of the previous posts gave some good advice regarding G-force breathing. Acrobatic pilots that pull heavy G's flex arms, legs, and core to squeeze the blood back up into the brain. But if you have vestibular or inner ear issues this will not help.

When they go through the pre-ride safety spiel and you start feeling nervous about whether or not you can handle it just take a look around at the other riders. If they can do it so an you! And it's worth the trip at least once!

I personally always get very sick on spinning rides such as the Teacups and Primeval whirl, however I have rode M:S around 10 times, both sides, and have never gotten sick from it. However when I went on with a bunch of my family, my Cousin and her husband got very sick on it and had to spend a while on a bench. I think there is no way to predict how someone will react to the ride unless you just experience it, so I say ride it and hope for the best!!!:sohappy:

And don't worry, if you are too distracted to hit the buttons during the ride, the computer does it for you, so if it makes you feel better, sit back, relax, keep your head back, eyes open and stare at the screen in front of you!!! It really is a great experience and def not as scary as it sounds

You pretty much don't feel the same effects, but it is practicly the same ride with the same film and everything except for the spinning and the extra G-forces that you would expierence on the original ride.

I have terrible issues with spinning rides. I can't do the teacups or Primeval Hurl. However, I can ride Mission Space Orange. It doesn't bother me for some reason. However, take the warnings seriously. Do not look sideways or close your eyes. I've not tried it, but I know someone who has and they did get sick. Ride the Orange at least once. I was so scared to ride the Orange the first time because everyone kept saying how horrible it was. However, it was neat. It's like a sustained Rock'n'Roller Coaster launch.
Hahaha, Primeval Hurl.

The spinning on the ride creates most of that feeling, but since the green side doesn't have spinning you won't feel much force during the Take-off. The simulator does roll back as if you were laying down though.

Thanks. I was always wondering how the green version worked... As I said, I rode the orange version and didn't get sick.. but, I am always afraid I may get sick or worse... Even though there is no reason for me to feel this way.. I just really didn't care for the ride much... Maybe I will give it another chance....

My folks (60s-70s y/o) ride orange and love it. I look sideways in it, move my arms up to flip all the toggles constantly, and I feel very little in it.

Everyone is different though. Some people can't ride down the highway for an hour without getting sick.

Three of us went on Mission Space and one was bothered. He didn't get sick but it messed with his equalibrium for a couple hours and made him miserable.

Hello  Just to add another slant to this discussion....as a nurse I have serious reservations as to the safety of this ride :snore:, I know you have all heard this before...blah blah blah!!!! I think it is probably fine if you are fit and healthy, however there is always going to be a small percentage of people who will not fare well on this ride. Those with high blood pressure or who have a history of strokes, in my opinion should go green every time!

Having said that in the past I have ridden orange :drevil: and green. I now stick to green and its just as fun!

In the all the times ive been on it, Ive never seen anyone get sick.
However, I know a lot of people have "post mission" symptoms. Like dizzy, tired, a little sick...including me. But, everyone reacts in their own way!

Sick

I rode the green.
My father decided to ride the orange with hubby.
He is very fit and I have never seen him sick after a ride. He didn't get sick but felt horrible for 2-3 hours. He just laid on a bench in the shade while the rest of us did other things.

My Daughter and I rode the ORANGE ride 12 times, and never had a problem. 4 times when she was 7, 4 times when she was 8 and another 4 when she was 10, and no problems at all, a few of those were back to back. Off the ride, then right back on again.

Everyone is different, go GREEN then see how you feel, and then try ORANGE if your up to it.
