Missing Millionaire....

After watching the past couple weeks run of Millionaire at night with Regis, I remembered how much I really loved that show, and how much I loved the attraction at Hollywood Studios. I would not give up Toy Story Mania, but I wish they could have kept Millionaire somewhere. I never go to the hot seat but I was close, and when we went for our honeymoon we got to sit in the fastest finger section, and whenever I went in there it was always full. Anyone else have fond thoughts of Millionaire, pictures or stories.

I also REALLY miss millionaire. My brother got into the hot seat by doing the fastest finger a few years ago. He was only nine at the time!! He made it to the $32,000 question. When they announced the next person to go into the hot seat it was MY SEAT :) Brother and sister made it to the hot seat in the same show. It was awesome!!

Great Disney moment :)

I SO miss Millionaire Play It! I actually would have made it to the hot seat except they had run out of time for that 'show'.

I too remember Millionaire and have fond memories of it. Though i only experienced it once, it was a nice break from the heat, and kept me entertained. It still baffles me how they can take that kind of attraction out, but, they bring in "Sounds Dangerous" and "Narnia" after that....with those two being the biggest waste of time, wish i could have the last 20 minutes back, attractions in DHS, and i'd argue, all of WDW.

Yeah, I miss it, too. I almost got to the hot seat a couple of times, I was at the top of the leaderboard once at $32,000. I bet if they hadn't aired it as much as they had and burned people out on it, it'd still be there.

I miss Millionaire also. On one visit I went to four shows in one day (2 Star Wars shows and 2 regular shows). On another visit I made it into the hot seat.

By the way, wasn't last night's episode intense? I hope they bring the primetime version back a little more often now.

I wish they would air it in primetime a little more often too. I like the daytime, but it isn't the same without Regis.

It opened April 2001 (I think it was about the 7th but I'm not 100%). I was in the hotseat exactly a year later, second show of the day (which happened to be the year anniversary of me seeing it). I won Fastest finger (amusing because the kid next to me was telling his dad the answer and was adamant about oliver & Company being made after hercules, apparently they were quite shocked when i went up). I got to $16,000 and got stuck on the $32,000 question about coca-cola and got booed off when i didn't know the answer (i'm from the UK and the answer is something written on every US cocacola bottle but not the UK ones).
We'd go every year - soooo much fun.
The year it closed my little sister was desperate to get in the hotseat and we went to every show (all 8 of them) on the last day of our trip. First show of the day and in what can only be described as a total fluke (I'd got a question wrong while playing along but got the final question right which all but 5 people in the room got wrong) I ended up in the hotseat for a second time. This time I got the $64,000 question wrong (can't remember what the question was though). I was told that 32,000 is as far as any Brit ever got there.
That day we met a guy whose daughter was the joint youngest person to win the cruise and he'd won it as well.
I think a lot of people have fond memories of that attraction.

what if they put millionaire back where idol is, i hear idol is awful

i can't stand the tv show, i can't imagine the show at DHS would be any better, at least to me

I thought it was a really fun attraction. We went a couple of times, and I got in the hot seat once for having the highest score after the first round. There are few Disney moments as memorable to me as when I saw the seat numbers and scores going up on the big screen with the final seat/score being mine. I lost soon after winning the shirt, but I had a fantastic time doing it and my boys thought it was incredibly cool to see their Dad in the hot seat.

Does anyone know if the pins are worth anything in the collectors' market?

I remember being there for the last showing. Rather heartfelt for the host and people working there.

Has anyone ever won the big prize? I doubt so....

I'm going to go against the grain here and state that I never really cared for Millionaire. I see it the same as Idol and wish, so badly, that some more creativity would return to the Studios.

I will say this, although it doesn't apply to Millionaire. Better to have a non-classic, copied attraction than an empty building!

EDIT: I want to point out that I do not mean every non-classic attraction is a rip-off. Non-classic and copied are exclusive of each other in my previous statement.

I meant the 3 day Disney cruise & the other fun freebies.

I know what you mean. The original 1,000,000 prize was a trip to New York to attend a show taping of the real thing. Once Millionaire was done airing in primetime on a regular basis, it changed to the cruise. Lots of people won:

1) From earlier in the thread:
That day we met a guy whose daughter was the joint youngest person to win the cruise and he'd won it as well.

2) This show performed at least 3 or 4 times a day every day for several years, WAY more often than it was shown on TV. With EVERYONE in the audience having a chance at the hot seat, the odds are infinitesimal that no one didn't ever win.

3) I seem to remember that there was a display with the names and faces of all of the people who'd won the top prize there, and there seemed to be plenty of them.
