Missing Millionaire....

I'm going to go against the grain here and state that I never really cared for Millionaire. I see it the same as Idol and wish, so badly, that some more creativity would return to the Studios.

I will say this, although it doesn't apply to Millionaire. Better to have a non-classic, copied attraction than an empty building!

EDIT: I want to point out that I do not mean every non-classic attraction is a rip-off. Non-classic and copied are exclusive of each other in my previous statement.

I didn't like the Millionaire attraction, and I have no interest in seeing the AI attraction. Funny, because I love both television programs.

But I agree, anything is better than an empty building.

I also long for a creative resurgence to the Studios. Toy Story Midway Mania has given me hope.

I know what you mean. The original 1,000,000 prize was a trip to New York to attend a show taping of the real thing. Once Millionaire was done airing in primetime on a regular basis, it changed to the cruise. Lots of people won:

1) From earlier in the thread:

2) This show performed at least 3 or 4 times a day every day for several years, WAY more often than it was shown on TV. With EVERYONE in the audience having a chance at the hot seat, the odds are infinitesimal that no one didn't ever win.

3) I seem to remember that there was a display with the names and faces of all of the people who'd won the top prize there, and there seemed to be plenty of them.
Oh. I think I missed the earlier posting. :brick:

And interesting. Forgot about the infinitesimal luck for MGM.

I also enjoyed the Millionaire attraction. I once made it to the hot seat, as well as my daughter. We always considered this attraction as a "must do" at DHS. We have learned over time that most things do not last forever at DHS, unless it involves a back lot or sweaty headphones in a dark room.

I also loved Millionaire, saw it like 15 times one vacation!

From what I've understood, the show HAD to close due to a loss of rights (the parent company copyrighted the lighting set up, sounds, music, etc etc.)

Personally I think it's more appreciated now as a "Fond Memory" than it would be if it were still around today for me. It had a great run, and left with some dignity, as well as being more than suitably replaced, so I put it in the rare "Earned an Honorable and Timely Closure" category not many other retired attractions are in unfortunately.
 :D
