Minor Fantasmic Dragon Update

I just find it to be too "bare bones" I guess. Give it a rear paddle wheel that actually spins/propels the ship instead of the current one that just floats there. Side paddles would be even better, though it would limit character viewing a bit. And some actual puffs of steam (rather than the current chimney smoke) would be nice as well.

Basically, make it look and function more like it's an actual ship. Right now it looks too much like a floating stage with some boat accessories.

or if anything... make the boat choreo consistent! There are so many shows where they do not have their sparkle wand ribbon things.... so they just stand there and wave.. I never understood why the Orlando version CONSTANTLY does that.

It's a weather thing I believe.

If there's too much wind the ribbon choreo would look more of a mess than it already is. Pretty much any wind is too much wind for those ribbons.

I've seen it happen on beautiful evenings. Is it due to slippery floors from the 3 pm rain? Do they not dry the boat before the show?

I don't know the specifics just that it's the weather that decides what choreography is used in the finale.

The dragon from Disneyland looks too much like a cartoon. The fire effect is cool, but it just looks way to cartoonish. Ours, while old looks more menacing and lifelike. Yea it could use a better body and some updating but I'll take ours over Dl.
I agree. I thought I wanted a "Murphy" dragon* from DL until I saw it in person. It looks like a giant plastic toy.

For now, I prefer the theatrical effect at DHS, and especially the old wings with lightning bolts. If we could get the Peter Pan sequence (instead of boring Pocahontas) and an impressive finale steamship, Florida's version would be perfect.

*named for Murphy's law, because everything that could break down, did, during its initial run.

Frozen would be a welcomed addition to fantasmic over the stagnant nature of the show. Although I wouldn't do let it go I feel for the first time in forever reprise would work best for a good dream gone bad scenario. Regardless of frozen though I do think tangled would fit the show over pocahontas or any other segment beyond the finale. Make it I see the light and have lanterns and you are sure to have guests in awe.
I think he/she was talking about fantasmic being replaced completely.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Was anyone else's Facebook plagued today with those stupid "prank" headlines claiming that Fant! was gonna be closed in May? Half my friends who shared it hadn't bothered to click on it to discover it was a bad attempt at humor before sharing it themselves.

The "boat" represents Mickey from his very first cartoon, STEAMBOAT WILLIE. In that context it is fine, and the focus should be on all of the costumed characters.

Steamboat Willie was a Side Wheeler, so WDW's Fant! Finale Boat is in fact, a poor representation of that boat. I agree a new boat is needed. The currently one is poorly done and poorly thought out. The Shows Finale would benefit from a grander boat.

Seeing Disneylands dragon on YouTube should not an opinion make. Most people who say they don't like it have never actually seen it in person. It is quite impressive and far superior to "ours" as many of you call it. That poses another problem. The dragon doesn't belong to us, it belongs to Disney and they can do whatever they like with it.

I remember watching a Disney Podcast show called "Dizney Coast To Coast" where two longtime Disneyland fans said WDW needs to get a new dragon a few times in the past.

I have seen the Disneyland dragon in person and yes it still looks like a cartoon. We call it "ours" because WDW is the park we most visit it is our Disney vacation place we spend the most time at. Just like many people out west will also say "ours".

I've noticed that a lot too. But overall I feel the DL Fantasmic cast has 150% tighter choreography and higher energy with everything they do in the show compered to the WDW version
