Mine Train Live Chat

There was a rumor of a Dopey AA causing the train to go "the wrong way" at the top of the lift hill, but the ride video doesn't seem to allow for that to be the case.
Thanks for the answer doctornick, that would be very cool if Dopey were at those gates in some sort of fashion

So what did you all think to that chat?

Nothing new was offered, although the video was very interesting. In fact, I think they showed too much there. from what I know of the attraction it has left very little to be discovered outside of the queue area.

Thanks for capturing it here for us so we don't have to waste our time live reading the miserable attempts at fan outreach by Disney :)

It has to be short going by the track length. The only way they can up the ride time is to slow the speed in that show scene and on the two lifts. Of course there will also be the load and unload time.
And they can only slow it down so much. Too slow in there and you start to stack trains and kill capacity.

Eh...it is what it is...

I often wonder why they are not more open to telling the public more details about what they are building. Why keep is a secret? Why does it need to be a surprise? Unless it's a piece of crap and they just don't want anyone to know yet.

I loved the video. I think they are keeping what's inside the mine a secret, like there is a WOW factor involved..the chat was not really informative at all and kind of pointless but I am glad we got it captured here so those of us who couldn't follow "live" got to read the entire script...and I love the sidebars you can only find here on wdwmagic.com

Let's have some fun with some simple math*

Mermaid ride: 7min
Mine ride: 2min(very generous?)

20K 10 min
SWSA 2 min and 20 seconds

So between the new** Mermaid attraction and the mine coaster we reach 9 minutes of time that the wan- oh I'm sorry other "guests" aren't in your way staring at a map. Almost 20 years ago said guest would be occupied for over twelve minutes plus. Now I don't have capacity numbers to bandy about*** and I am guesstimating based on a very brief video put out by Disney, that capacity of the rides/the amount of time occupied has decreased. Any local theme park that might be okay, however Disney**** is now "welcoming" more guests than ever and decisions have been made to cut the overall attraction time in the park.

* rounded up in favor of current attractions.
**Been open for two years, but by Disney's "temporary" standards it's still a newborn.

I think the ride could make it to 2 minutes. The video contain 1:05 of actual ride footage. The video starts as you come off the first lift hill so everything from load, to that point is missing. There is also a cut as you enter the mine scene and another cut between the mine scene and what appears to be half way up the second lift hill. Finally the video cuts off before you reach unload. Those cuts could add another minute especially since the mine scene and lifts are the slow part of the ride.

But, whether it is 2 minutes or 2 minutes, 6.4 seconds, it's a short ride. And does not seem terribly thrilling (both of which were expected). That cave show scene and queue better be mind-blowing, Tower of Terror-quality. Nay, Indiana Jones Adventure quality. Or the "shining jewel" of New Fantasyland will seem like something bought on Groupon.

According to the diagrams of the animatronics, the mine scene doesn't seem like it will be too amazing.

The CGI video shows Dopey sitting inside a mine cart shortly after you enter the mine. IF they have a character switching the tracks, I would imagine that it would be the witch but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, when I looked at the (cardboard cutout) figure of Dopey in the ride through that was posted, it looks like there is a "track" next to him, but your ride vehicle goes to the left. So, maybe that is what the rumors are about and the audio or some movement on Dopey's part makes it evident that he is causing you to go the one direction.
