Mine Ride Construction Update

So in a justafied way it is a mini-coaster to help maybe "give courage" to younger kids for the larger coasters? I can see this not being a extreme ride having it in NFL. With the AAs and Disneys touch, this should still be a spectacular ride.
Not a dark ride and not a true thrill ride, somewhere between the two.
Plus, you add the swinging cart which is some new engineering. That'll add some extra thrill as well.

Well this thread started Nov 6th 2012 with this image of the mermaid side of the mountain

http://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions...rfs-mine-train-coaster-construction/17443.htm

Now 5 months later in the beginning of April they've finally got the rock work close to fininshed and painted and the front half of the Mine Train now looks like it's at about the same point that the Mermaid side was in Nov

http://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions...en-dwarfs-mine-train-coaster-construction.htm

so, another 5-6 months it may actually start looking like a mountain?

I could definitely see that as being accurate, I think there is going to be a period of time where it all looks ready on the outside and then of course the 2 to 3 months of them working on the insides. Considering how its not really a dark ride and they only have to do just a few scenes I think once the mountain and track is completed it wont be that long till its open.

This assumes that the ride system behaves as expected. I could see this having an extra long test and adjust phase if this don't work exactly as expected.

Thats very true I really don't think those swinging carts are going to happen it just seems really risky to me.

It's no different than the old Arrow suspended coasters like the former Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. It just relocates the pivot point and damping pistons.

The one thing I *can* see them having to do would be to install heavier damping pistons/shocks if the cars swing too much in testing. That way they can limit the amount that the cars swing.

It's not like they'd have the same issues as Knoebel's in PA, who have been trying for many years to get their recreation of a Flying Turns bobsled-style coaster up and running. In that case they've built the track just fine, but have been having trouble getting trains designed that a) will ride in the trough safely, and b) will conform to modern safety regulations in their passenger restraints and rider "envelope" (no pinch points, etc). Simply replicating the original cars won't work in the modern era,

Is that anything like the bobsled coaster in Kings Dominion? That thing is a blast, wish there were more rides out there like that. Big Bad Wolf was awesome too, if only because of the swinging mechanism. Hopefully the Mine Train can capture some of that out-of-control freely swinging motion, even if it is highly controlled.

I imagine by Sept-Oct the mountain will be looking like a mountain, as far as the ride goes that's another story

I know they keep releasing the CG renderings of the train in motion, which I'm sure takes into account the physics and stresses of the ride, but the double Dumbo on opening day was scraping in knees on the side of the pool ...so? I wouldn't get my hopes up about the Mine Train opening early

Yes, it's a wooden version of that style of coaster. But the cars for that are huge. These are to be smaller, and a few less cars per train, I believe.

Here is a video of a test run of Flying Turns...

Just in new Fantasyland? From what I hear you'd want to get to Enchanted Tales with Belle first, as the line builds VERY fast and waits are long for most of the day. After that, head to the Little Mermaid attraction and the meet-and-greet if you want, tackle Storybook Circus (meet-and-greets, Barnstormer and Dumbo), and swing back around to explore Belle's village (Gaston's Tavern, Bonjour Gifts) and stake a spot outside Be Our Guest, where people start lining up crazily early for a counter-service lunch.

What is "Crazy early"??
