Boy, the way Glenn Miller played
Songs that made the hit parade
Guys like us we had it made.
Those were the days

Didnt need no welfare state
Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee, our old LaSalle ran great those were the days.

And you knew who you were then,
Girls were girls and men were men.
Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.
People seemed to be content.
Fifty dollars paid the rent.
Freaks were in a circus tent.
Those were the days.

Take a little sunday spin,
Go to watch the Dodgers win.
Have yourself a dandy day that cost you under a fin.
Hair was short and skirts were long.
Kate Smith really sold a song.
I just dont know what went wrong.
Those were the days.

Hey! I grew up in Pittsburgh where we got some serious snow, and there was a valley between my house and the school. . . so yes, I walked uphill both ways in the snow. . . with a trombone.

Damn kids

Well Darnit all...

I got more money than I needed for lunch, got to wait in a heated car in the mornings for the bus, never had to worry about paddles from the teacher, had to wait for tv dinners to cook in the oven, had to use a popcorn popper, could only pick up 4 channels on tv and change those channels by walking over to the set, not to mention having to plug cartridges into my Atari and unjam Cassette tapes.

Boy you kids got it made.

We even had to add using our minds, no new fangled computers or calculators. We were forced to Pea Green screens when the class did get to use the school owned computer for the day, with no mouse and a 2.5" screen. When you went to the movies you had to hold your drinks and often you had to sit in your car. Talk about the old days...
