HHN started tonight. An event which is almost all newly imagined every year.

I have no idea how they stay in business

Is that a new thing? I feel like I scheduled Fastpasses when I went to the Christmas Party a couple of years ago. However, I do like it this way. We are going to the Halloween Party next Sunday. I just scheduled a couple around 4 when we can get in. I feel that Fastpasses just clutter all of the lines.

Think for yourselfer
Saw on the Twitter machine that the parties are less crowded then in the past few years. Has Disney finally hit the ceiling of what people will pay for 8 pieces of candy and a 12 year old parade?

Are they still serving anything in that poison apple stein at Sleepy Hollow this year? They had a yummy apple pie sundae last year.

Yup. The plastic apple stein things are still around.

Worked for us, too. The only Disney park day we had this trip was the party last Tuesday. We scheduled fastpasses for Splash, Pirates, and Space, with the first fastpass going active at 3:30, half an hour before we would even be let into the park, so that all the windows would open and close before 7pm, which was the "official" closing time of the park that night. Worked great, we were actually in the park by 4:05, and we were able to utilize all 3.

The party definitely was less crowded Tuesday (7/13), than it was for the party we attended last October, and was not a sell-out.
HOWEVER, this was probably because there had been a big rainstorm right around 1pm, which caused a lot of people to leave the parks early. Then it was overcast all afternoon, and then there was an even bigger storm that lasted from 6 all the way until 9:30 or so that caused Disney to not put up most of the pop-up inflatable decorations, close certain attractions (even Philharmagic was shut down because they turned it into a rain shelter!) and cancelled all but the last Hocus Pocus shows.

We stuck around, though, and the weather cleared out by the late evening, enough for them to run the castle projection show, fireworks, and late parades and midnight Hocus Pocus show as normal. We had a great time but it was definitely dicey for a while.

As to the final crowd read, the only semi-objective information I can give is that at 11:30, Seven Dwarves was a walk-on whereas at our party last October (where it DIDN'T storm like crazy) that same ride had a 45-50 minute wait all the way until closing.

Go back 10 years+

2003 Stromboli, Foulfellow, Ratcliffe, Big Bad, Olie and Zoe, Goliath Gargoyle, Phoebus, Quasimodo, Clopin, Esmerelda to name a few.
2004 Sora, Mr Walrus, Quasimodo and Esmerelda, etc

In years past the Company made an attempt to change it up. Now it's the same year after year.
Would it take some work to get a few out that don't normally appear? It comes down to taking the easy route.

Quick question for anyone do we need to print out our tickets or No. I see them on MDE and I would imagine they are linked to my MB's. Just want to make sure before tomorrow.

We check into POR tomorrow morning and plan to head over around 5 as the wife has a few FPs for meet and greets before the parts starts later in the evening.

Thanks in advance

They're people dressed in costumes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're not real!!!

What? Mind Blown.

Next thing you are going to tell me is I am not in a rocket when I am on Space Mountain, or that Big Thunder is not a runaway train, sheesh spoiler alert.

BTW the demand for these rare characters is a fact that cannot be denied.

I am with those who simply believe a unique character or two would not break the bank but would help the bottom line.

All party goers getting in early get to reserve three FP+ for the three hours before the party starts at 7; the official start time for which they've paid. You know, when they are let in beginning three hours early at 4 because apparently they need that time to get everyone in for the start of the party. (Wonder why they don't start letting me in at 6 a.m. for the regular opening time of 9?...). Those three FP+ are no longer available to those who have paid to be there during the day from 4-7 when they are ceremoniously booted out (or gloved out as it may be). It needs to be recognized that while not having as much impact as the early close on so many nights during party season, non-party goers get that shaft here too.

I don't understand your logic. If you're staying at a resort, you still get to reserve FP+ 60 days out with regular or party ticket. Non-resort stays are 30 days for regular or party ticket. I don't see party goers getting any more of an advantage between 4-6 as non-party goers for FP+.

You're partially right JohnD as relates to advance FP+ reservations, but this is a complaint of mine that i'm trying (and all too slowly succeeding) to let go. The advantage is guests using only MNSSHP's are able to get FP+ for attractions during a period of time they haven't technically paid for, but for which day guests have. A party ticket is for MNSSHP which begins at 7 p.m. and there is no FP+ during the party.

The argument by WDW in letting party goers in beginning at 4, three hours early, is that they can't process all party goers effectively right at 7, so they need the earlier start to get folks in. However, party attendees can currently use the MNSSHP ticket to obtain FP+ during those three hours before the stated party hours begin.

Therefore, day ticket holders who have paid for that time including obtaining FP+ during those three 3 pre-party hours, now have reduced FP+ availability and increased wait times because of it. All of this at a regular ticket price. Should it be ok for party ticket holders to be in the park and enjoying attractions, even with FP+ during a time they haven't paid for when it has an effect on those who have? Perhaps, perhaps not, but let a day guest so much as try to buy a balloon or Mickey bar without a wristband one minute past 7 p.m., and they are escorted out.

I have been to two parties in past years, and one MVMCP, and while i think they were overpriced and overcrowded, enjoyed them. Don't get me wrong, I hope all who attend this year have a blast, and based on park time available to us wish it was in the budget this year, But with parties on 4 out of 5 nights during our upcoming trip, MK hours are already greatly reduced for us, and increased wait times due to MNSSHP attendees holding FP+ does not help.

I"ll counter with the fact that characters normally only available during the parties are now starting their Meet and Greets at 4pm. So it would seem that regular ticket holders get to see them too.
