Mickey's house isn't staying

Does anyone know when TT and the houses will be closed to the public? We're going at the end of June and are hoping for one last chance to see everything there.

My kids were each around 3 years old on their first trips to WDW, and Mickey and Minnie's houses are the only thing each of them remember from the first trip. That's a powerful memory to throw away.

Just another reason to rethink taking a child to WDW at such an early age.

It becomes more of a memory for the parent to keep that a memory for the child.

I never knew the houses were so popular...

They aren't. The M&G's are though. You are just seeing the usual pot stiring coming from the local resident experts.

Now Disney knows it is not the houses but the M&G's that are popular. That is why they are relocating them to the much more appropriate Main Street location. Hopefully this will start a trend of adding more atractions to MSUSA. I think Disney will find it "sells" better than just a standard collection of uncompelling stores.

With the same merchandise you can find all over the property.

Too bad you'll never give your young children that opportunity. Our 19-month old has been three times. Whether she remembers a thing or not is unimportant, that's why they call it a "family vacation". It's a matter of opinion though, so I'll leave it at that.

I don't have a personal attachment to the houses, and TT does feel like an afterthought in its current state. I just wish the Imagineers could have found a way to include a legitimate TT in the FL plans. Maybe it will happen one day, but I'd like to see it at MK.

Psychologically speaking, your child will not remember anything noteworthy before age 3. Sorry parents, but it's the cold-hard truth. They won't remember when they did that really cute thing the first time they met Mickey. (;

I'm almost 30 and I only remember bits and pieces of our trip this past December. What I remember well is that we had fun spending time together as a family. You simply cannot put a price tag on that kind of memory, and the countless pictures and hours of video will be thoroughly enjoyed one day by our daughter.

I fully respect anyone who chooses to wait until their kids are older to take them to WDW. This is not directed at you, but I just don't understand those who choose to discourage or look down upon those of us who do. It's kind of like suggesting that Disney should create a minimum and maximum age for their parks to ensure one remembers and enjoys everything.

That's the end of my rant, continue demolition of TT...

Yeah, actually, the houses are popular. I'm still happy to see Toontown go away.

I never thought I'd agree so much with something you said. :ROFLOL:

Merchandise in stores on Main Street USA = Epic Fail.

I'm surprised not to see anyone discussing the impressive plussing that quietly happened to Splash Mountain during its downtime. Repainted sets, new lighting, AA effects, improved AA movement... :lookaroun
