Mickey's house isn't staying

I'm a crazy parent of a 4-year old (he was 3 on our last trip.) And I'm ready for the houses to be gone. I think they are in rough shape and I never did like the "over-mickeyness" of them.

DS, for the most part, could careless as well. He does like Minnie's Kitchen, but Mickey's house is of no interest to him when we walk through. He can't play with the ping-pong table so what's the big deal? And we always skip meeting Mickey at the end, we go to the Character Spot in Epcot, usually much more managable line wise (and DS even chose to leave that line once when it was too long - we've raised him well ;))

And as far as taking small ones to Disney... DS has been 5 times, #6 in a couple of months. A Disney trip to him is just as much a part of his knowledge as any other family trip we've taken. He knows a lot about the parks in terms of where things are and what to do where. Does he have specific memories? As of right now. Yes. Next year will he remember what he did on which specific trip, probably not, but I forget a lot too. It's the experience when we're there.

This has always been my problem with the TT houses... you couldn't touch anything... you had to stay behind a rope and look into the rooms without being able to touch and play. I remember that shop in DHS at the end of the back lot tour (that had Roger Rabbit's Dip truck, and the boxes with the noises, etc.)... TT in DL is similar, too, in that there are a bunch of things little ones can touch and get funny noises out of, etc. Why the houses were never built in that way was always a mystery to me.

Again, it always made the place seem VERY temporary. I remember when Mickey's Birthdayland was first opening up (I happened to be living in Tampa at the time)... it was a HUGE deal! ("First new land since the MK opened!!") Back in its day, it was a cute spot to get away from all the crowds. Problem is, though, they really didn't keep it up -- especially when it's geared toward the little ones -- it looked all chipped, faded, etc.

My daughter, who is 7 now, has never been a fan of TT and like many other here, I am very happy it's going away. I'm really looking forward to the old fashioned M&G's on Main St, etc. I have always hated the contrived, senseless theming of the M&G's.

Obviously, you saw that our "jabs" at crazy parents were good-natured and sarcastic.

Sorry tirian, but you're wrong...all we're seeing is the usual pot-stirring from parents of 3-year-olds. They're a very cynical, untrustworthy bunch!

I hate parents of 3-year-olds.

;)

Time out!!! What did I ever do to you!?! I have 3 year old and I haven't said a thing about the houses going away. My kids like them (3 & 6) but they won't be devestated to see them go away. And what's coming is better...

Sorry, Newfie. It has been decreed that those in favor of keeping the houses are troublemakers and are not to be taken seriously. Since the vast majority of them are parents (some of whom hardly ever post!), the only reasonable conclusion is that these parents form a cabal of malcontents, roaming the boards (on which they hardly ever post) looking for pots to stir!

With me now? :animwink:

If you'll be my bodyguard
I can be your long lost pal
I can call you Betty
And Betty when you call me
You can call me Mal......
