Dumbo uses VQ and FastPass and and it works quite well. The issue is that the demand for Rise is far greater than capacity so most are excluded from joining the VQ.

Dumbo is a very different VQ system in that people are not free to roam the rest of the park and get in line for other rides while in the VQ. They are limited and contained.
That's an awful way to describe people who like Dumbo!!
The ride system isn’t considered sacred, but nothing has come of it going elsewhere yet.

A few high capacity dark rides & another decent coaster would sort Animal Kingdom out.

Josh D’Amaro is a great guy. Always love seeing Phil Holmes’s classic “smile” too. This is the upcoming ride I’m most excited for, hope it does not disappoint!

Meh. I don’t see it as a problem that a major headliner can have that long a standby wait. Easy to avoid if you plan ahead.
Only if you’re staying on site. If you consider being up at midnight 60 some days before your trip, and hope some slots are still open, easy.

If only it were that easy! FP+ reservations go live at 7am EST, which is 4am for those of us on the West Coast. Quite an awkward time!
And your stay needs to be at least 4-5 nights to have a decent shot at scoring FOP. This is still the case 2.5 years after it opened.
Cancellations can happen, but landing one requires playing the refresh game dozens to hundreds of times. If you’re in the parks, say goodbye to your phone battery!
Virtual queuing would be a breeze in comparison, especially for attractions that won’t have RotR’s capacity limitations.

A strong rumor was that this was going to be the Avengers ride system... Do you know if that is the case or if Disney decided on a system yet?
Boarding groups I believe are seen as a way to handle extra large demand as well as potential ride issues.
Why would it improve attendance? If you’re not there at Rope Drop you’re probably not riding, so there’s no draw if you can’t be there by 6:30 AM
FP/Standby at least makes you think you’ve got a shot
Disney was expecting a boost in overall attendance with SW:GE.

Between the Skyliner and new attractions TSL, SWGE, MMRR, GotG:CR, Rat, etc., there are supposed to be significant attendance increases for both DHS and Epcot. If in 2021, all parks don’t have at least 14 million visitors, or even 13, I can’t imagine they will be too pleased. And unfortunately they won’t come to the right conclusions.

So we should be expecting to make a choice of VQ for MMRR or ROTR? Since MMRR is sure to get large crowds.
I don’t know. I’d hope not. You don’t pay admission to have to choose.
