Why would removing GMR been preferable over removing Mermaid? That makes zero sense.
killing three things in favor of killing one. You have mermaid, launch bay, and disney jr vs just the great movie ride. I'm pretty sure it's also cheaper to just kill gmr vs three shows and then making a new area from the buildings.

Well, there's the reasons relayed by our insiders that have already been made known many times over the past year.

Is the question that one wants to hear them again so that they know; OR, is the question asked simply to argue against it?

I'm confused.

If they were to remove Mermaid and go straight back (not towards Launch Bay, but back towards backstage) they could have done so without disrupting GMR's capacity. If it meant Mickey and Minnie's opened 6 months later, that's fine because you can do a 15 month refurb to GMR that would help with the first rush of Star Wars guests.

I think we’re at cross purposes.

Mermaids removal was part of the original TSL, not GMR.
One thing I’m unclear on is this—would the removal of OMD and Mermaid have allowed for the Woody’s Round Up area or was it just to have a cleaner entrance off the hub? In either case, I actually agree with the choice to drop that merch/M&G area. Losing a show and OMD for that wouldn’t have been worth it.

Okay if I may, I am a bit confused..

Per what has been previously reported by you... the main reason to replace GMR was due to a the floor for the new ride was there and also the cost they would have been forced to put back in GMR due to maintenance issues.

Add to that - the cost to tear out other older buildling and replace to put in new ride would have been even more cost - with budgets already being cut.

Is this not the case?

The old TSL entrance proposal was around 4 years ago, before GMR was considered for removal.

@marni1971 are you able to tell us the planned location they want to use for the next possible phase on expansion in the park? Please tell me you’ve heard something about turning the dead end of Sunset Blvd into a loop...
I’ve not heard about altering Sunset access. Personally I don’t think it needs it. It would help if an attraction was built on the Sunset Market Ranch placeholder.
