Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway SPOILER Thread

From the article:

It remains to be seen whether or not those show scenes will be on the ride or in the pre-show portion of the experience.

The Chinese theater did not need its exterior or the interior queue to change much into a 'scene.' So, two of the three extra scenes at DL could be the exterior and a themed queue.

Some insiders have said their *may* be one new scene.

Given that the DL building is narrower but longer than the DHS, it might lend itself to a new scene as spaces are altered.

I doubt they're going to go out of their way to make a significantly elaborate must-see new scene. It could be as simple as a sparsely decorated hallway in between scenes.

From Ken's mouth:

"We’re working really hard on making Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway a fabulous attraction. It’s in Florida already and it’s going to be even better here because it has some enhancements that Florida doesn’t have."

Yikes. I don't love them taking what is the replacement of the park signature ride at Hollywood Studios, cloning it, and then plussing it at another park. Since it's supposed to be the parks new anchor, Hollywood Studios should be the premier version of MMRR.

Everything is better at Disneyland!

We’ll see what he means. If he’s referring to large fiberglass props in the queue, that’ll be a bummer.

I’m assuming those enhancements would make their way to DHS eventually.

Yea it’s already confirmed that the queue will have large fiberglass props from Mickey shorts as the queue will be themed differently. So I wonder if that’s what he’s talking about

It was always blatantly obvious that MMRR was designed for Toontown and shoehorned into MGM. People on here ballyhooing it as an "exclusive" ride were fooling themselves. It's really a shame, since I think MMRR is the best ride Disney has built since... ToT? But Disney management has no respect for theme parks or their fans - stupid entertainment for stupid people - and they have the least respect for WDW, despite its importance to the company. DL is the original, Shanghai and Hong Kong are in a sexy new market with an authoritarian government breathing down Disney management's neck, Tokyo is someone else's money, and Paris... well, Paris gets treated pretty badly too. But to Disney, WDW is the lowest of the low, home of the sweatiest, most moronic of "guests."

I’m not sure about that. Toontown has been on the chopping block for years. It would be odd if they designed a ride for Toontown anytime in the last 10 years. Toontown would have probably already been in yesterland if the Eastern Gateway project at DLR went though and MMRR went to the Hollywood Backlot in DCA where they originally wanted to put it if I remember correctly.

I’m still interested to see how they handle the Toontown firework problem. I can’t imagine a world where DL wants to close their new E ticket 5 hours before park close. Is the queue and exit going to be configured so that people can ride by going to SWGE at night?

I mean they only do fireworks on the weekends right?

God, wouldn't it be great if they replace the horrific Picasso-like Mickey and Minnie heads in the WDW version with 3D heads? I haven't experienced the WDW ride myself, I've just seen videos, but a friend of mine rode MMRR and said the Mickey & Minnie heads are awful. They look flat and the muzzle parts of the heads aren't lit like the rest of the heads and it looks bizarre. I mean, what the heck? The first Mickey Mouse dark ride ever, and somehow the "Imagineers" manage to eff it up.

Hey, Imagineers...what were you thinking? Yes, the excellent new Mickey Mouse cartoons are 2D...but in the cartoon world he lives in, Mickey's head is still 3D! When he turns his head, it isn't flat - it's round! From all angles! So what was the deal with making it flat????

It's a great ride but I do agree on those heads. Odd to say the least.

Yeah I feel like he could point to a variety of things as “enhancements” when they’re really just differences. He’s invested in the success of the DL version so I don’t blame him, but there’s no guarantee it’ll have any actual improvements, although that’ll be cool if it does.

I don’t understand why anyone would be mad if they made improvements, we’re dealing with theme parks across the country, not sports teams.
