Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

They really should gut out the chip and dale area and move the shop there. looks like a decent piece of land there with backstage road access. All they have to do is theme it to another characters house. Maybe even put Goofy house there and turn it into a nicely themed store.

The existing goofy house area and the garden that is pretty much a waste of space can then be re-purposed. The land is big enough for a double spinner or better yet why not reskin the heimlich cars into single acorns with single dispatch and recreate a fun little outdoor ride. with lots of Props.

I wonder how costly it would be to build a roof over the small Toontown area. Couldn't it be built like the did the WWTBAM building? That thing is basically a temporary shell that went up in just a few months.

Imagine what they would be able to do with projections and paints inside this land

Ideally enclosing the land sounds great but would it work in practice? Would they be able to pull off the effect that we re really outside on a bright sunshiney day? I feel like we would feel like we re really in doors and it could feel kind of dunegeony. The kinetics they could add with projections would be great but I just don’t know if it could be pulled off. How did it work out at TDS with the Little Mermaid Land? Although if your supposed to be underwater there it’s not really comparing apples to apples.

I would rather they keep goofys house where it is and just use Chip n Dales for the store... if there is no other place for it. I’m guessing they could easily attach it to the ride showbuilding somehow. Not sure if they would be thrilled about a store that can only be accessed by riders though.

Is Toontown planned to receive any major updates as well alongside the new ride? Like some Alice-esque Roger Rabbit updates? Jolly Trolley return? New, less 90’s aesthetics? Updates to the Fab 5 homes?

In a semi-perfect world, we would walk down under the railroad track, and stay at that elevation (or even lower). That would make it more feasible to enclose the whole land (without a taller-than-necessary building). Enclosure would allow for fun lighting and projections. (Imagine multiple sunrise or sunset sequences each day.) Enclosure would also theoretically enable the area to remain open during the fireworks.

Of course, that ship sailed long ago. Bon voyage.

Yeah I understand what it would allow. Just not sure what they could do to avoid the place feeling kind of dungeony. Those would have to be some pretty high ceilings. I don’t see them spending the money to do this. High cost/ low reward. Not to mention what this huge building would do to FL sightlines.

Insiders have indicated that the land will get an overall aesthetic refresh to go along with MMRR. Everything that is there now is slated to stay though (except for the Five and Dime store)

To me it sounds like a fresh paint job. I’m not sure how you could match the aesthetics of the new Mickey cartoons without an extensive refurb.

What if they moved the fireworks launch site to the TDA building? Would Toontown still have to close early?
A smidge too close to the 5 Freeway/Ball Rd.

It all depends on the size of the shells and how high they go before getting set off.

I think DLR uses a 1000' radius fallout zone, which already covers I-5/Ball Rd and why parts of FL and all of TT close. However with that said, they have a weird fallout zone because they still allow people in Small World Mall. So its not an exact circular radius.

So to answer the question, I think they should move it to TDA parking garage and then angle it and use smaller shells.

I'm a bit lost as to why they need to move the fireworks launch area?

Isn't the area i marked in yellow the fireworks launch? the red the area where this new Attraction is suppose to go?

and while i'm here i really think they should gut out part of the TDA building and relocate some of the necessary backstage stuff there that will be displaced by the removal of the building for the attraction. Have any TDA employee that does not need to be directly behind the park go to a new building that can be placed near Mickey and Friends or the future eastern gateway.

How many of those employees actually go inside the park daily that requires them to be feet away from it?

so back to this picture is this correct or did the firework launch get moved? i know this picture is old because SWGE is not even started on it.

The new MF ride and a good portion of SWL will be as close to the fireworks as Toontown. I wonder if they'll close SWL down for the fireworks?

What they need to do is move it like 200 yards directly behind to the corner of the TDA parking structure. That parking structure already closes anyways during fireworks.

Then using a little larger shell (to go up higher) and angle it a bit to keep directly behind castle and then they can keep FL, SW:GE (if parts actually close) and TT/Mickey open.
