I just don't see it as HwL is basically slated for Marvel. So unless you're betting they aren't using HwL for Marvel, then it doesn't make sense.

Either way we're just Blue Sky'ing here.

I dunno. I previously thought the same thing but we now know Spiderman is going in ITTBAB, GOTG is where it is, Bugs land will be swallowed by Marvel and Avengers is most likely going into the backlot behind GOTG so I’m 50/50 now on the backlot and/ or bus transportation area also being used for Marvel. They have a bunch of other IP that I’m sure they want to get into the parks.

I'm still of the opinion they're going to use it for Marvel, albeit Phase 2/3. Marvel is a huge library of IP, not just what is currently in the MCU. However just limiting to what's in the MCU, you still have at least one character shown in the concept art that isn't listed in the recent rumor for Phase 1, the King of Wakanda. That is too huge of a character to leave out of Marvel Land. So I can see HwL getting some type of Black Panther attraction, who knows maybe its your boat ride idea.

Plus I suspect one of the buildings, like the Animation building, will be turned into the Sanctum Sanctorum for guests to walk around in.

I’m aware that their are plenty of other popular Marvel characters that won’t be represented. However I’m of the opinion that some of the most popular Marvel IP will be represented and it may be smarter to diversify and showcase some other Popular non Marvel IP. The real estate is extremely limited at DLR. I think a Spiderman, Guardians and Avengers Ride is enough. Not to mention an Antman themed brewery (still weirded out by this) , Dr Strange show and probably a plethora of meet and greets.

Well since they specifically showcase Black Panther in the artwork for DCA I have to think he'll be used in some major way in the land. As all of the characters in the artwork for each of the parks appear to be represented in a major way. And he isn't there to represent the Avengers as he isn't part of the Avengers in the MCU. So he'll be represented in some other way on his own. Now where that might be we just don't know yet, but the current Phase 1 appears to be full if the rumors are true.

So to quote you, if I were a betting man (and yes I am) I'd say its part of Phase 2 in HwL.

And now that we've turned this thread into a Marvel discussion, I think we should probably end it here. ;):p:cool:

It’s funny that in years I past was very much in favor of a Fantasyland expansion taking over Toontown. At some point over the last few years my opinion changed. I think In big part to seeing WDIs recent work with GOTG and Pixar Pier but also because of the lands charm and potential. Putting a Mickey E ticket in the land is a nice layer of icing on the cake. Or maybe the whole cake.

BTW, off topic but I tried Salt n Straw last night in Studio City and hated it. Just give me some real ice cream dammit. I’ll take McConnells over it any day.

Phil Jackson?

No, its a line from a Tom Hanks movie (he's one of my favorite actors, my step-grandmother was his homeroom teacher in HS). But really its like a Chinese proverb.

Here is the entire quote:

"A boy is given a horse on his 14th birthday. Everyone in the village says, “Oh how wonderful.” But a Zen master who lives in the village says, “We'll see.” 'The boy falls off the horse and breaks his foot. Everyone in the village says, “Oh how awful.” The Zen master says, “We'll see.” The village is thrown into war and all the young men have to go to war. But, because of the broken foot, the boy stays behind. Everyone says, “Oh, how wonderful.” The Zen master says, “We'll see.”"

It means that most things really aren't good or bad, even though we are quick to jump to that conclusion.

Sometimes I like to be profound. :)

@SuddenStorm thanks for that audio file of the DLRR railroad. I was able to convert it into a ringtone. Let me know if you want me to email you the file. In fact, I have a bunch of great DL ringtones and they’ve already been converted into M4r files. All you have to do is drag and drop them into your iTunes tones folder. Let me know if you want any of the below. Here’s what I have...

Not sure why it’s called Matterhorn full ride. It’s just the old yeti growl. Pirates Jolly Roger is the talking skull. The Star Tours chime makes a great text tone. If anyone wants any of these let me know. I’m feeling good after that Dodgers win last night. Only stipulationa are you have to hate GOTG:MB and you must be a Dodger fan.
These screenshots hit a little too close to home, lol. My list of ringtones looks so similar.

Is Paul Frees voice still somewhere in Disneyland?
Absolutely! You can still here Paul Frees in lots of places. He's one of my absolute favorite voice actors so I seek him out regularly:
  • Ghost Host of Haunted Mansion (Classic)
  • Voice 1 inside the caverns of Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Narrator of the pre-show and main show of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln
  • Audio clips are used in "Remember... Dreams Come True"
Do we have any POTC historians in the house?
The skull above the first drop ("Ye come seekin' adventure and salty ol' pirates, eh?") and the disembodied voice in the caverns ("Dead men tell no tales...") are both X Atencio. Although not as prevalent now, Paul's voice was able to be heard in more places inside of the attraction though; he was/now is again Voice #1 inside the cavern after the treasure room, he was the original Captain in the battle scene, he was the original auctioneer (may that audio RIP), and he was the original "pooped pirate" before the burning city scene.
I don't believe he is the Ghost Host anymore in either version.
Yes, he is. The safety spiel that plays when you board the doom buggy has been re recorded with Corey Burton, but the rest of the narration remains intact.
Believe it or not, Disney has FOUR English-speaking Ghost Hosts!
  • Haunted Mansion
    • Paul Frees, attraction
    • Joe Leahy, safety spiels
  • Haunted Mansion Holiday
    • Corey Burton, attraction, safety spiels, and hold spiels
  • HalloWishes
    • Kevin Michael Richardson
Also, in case any one was wondering, the hold spiels during Haunted Mansion (Classic) are not the Ghost Host, and instead are given by X Atencio!

HA! I was right. Thanks for clarifying. You seem legit. I’m rolling with this.

This is the result of TDA execs who are now laser focused on capacity, something their Florida brethren would be wise to get interested in.

But how many lost decades did it take the TDA execs to remember that? About two and some change?

And how the heck do you get to be a top exec at Disneyland and not constantly worry about ride capacity, park capacity, hourly throughput, park infrastructure, etc., etc.??? o_O

Being in charge of Disneyland and not caring about ride/park capacity is like being in charge of a plumbing company and not caring how to screw two pipes together. Or being in charge of an automobile company and not caring if your current model cars are powered by new hybrid motors or 30 year old V8 engines.

That's terrifying. But also explains some things.

I have my own And Yet...

And YET!... Even if the bulldozers move in next month, Disneyland's version of Mickey's Runaway Railway behind Toontown won't be opening until Christmas, 2021 at the very earliest. Summer, 2022 is more likely.

What the heck are they going to do about park capacity in the next three years when massive crowds in a booming economy descend on Disneyland to see Star Wars Land???

Is it actually possible the executives running TDA are really this bad at their jobs?

Just curious did the neighbor lady mention what kind of capacity the Mickey ride will have? @GiveMeTheMusic?

It obviously won’t be POTC level but I’m hoping for better than the SWL rides.

Our insiders say of the one in DHS about 1,900 pph.

But why are DL folk worried about capacity during the initial SWL onslaught? Not only do they brag about their outsized capability to handle it with their high concentration of attractions... but the brag is actually true!
