Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

Well that spells good tidings for the Shanghai boat tech for California. That's about the only thing of truly high capacity they've done recently.

Now the question is which IP? Could they use the same tech for an overhead track? If so... Coco or Aladdin.

When did they change the "Dead men tell no tales" voice? It's the eerie echoey one that you hear in the cavern on the way in, IIRC. (The talking skull is not who I'm referring to).

They haven’t changed the Dead men tells no tales voice echo in the caverns. X Atencio is the voice of the “dead men tell no tales” echo in the caverns as well as the talking skull.

What they did recently was add back some old dialogue in the caverns (in place of the Davy Jones projection) that was voiced by Paul Frees. The “no fear of evil curses says you...” line. They also added back the “perhaps he knows too much” line. I’m not sure who voices that line.

Well, the Disney wiki is wrong then.

No, they'd opt for the new Pan system if they want to go overhead. I'm trying to find a video of the dispatch timing, I didn't time that myself. But the vehicles have double the capacity of WDW's Pans, so theoretically it's probably doubled.

It needs to be a water-based boat attraction, which obviously limits IP choices. Honestly the screen effects only work if you are continuing the water. You completely lose the effect with static floors (like ratatouille).

I'd love a Coco attraction in DCA... I do really want a true Aladdin attraction somewhere, but I don't think it organically fits anywhere.

While I think Aladdin has potential, the key points of any ride based on the movie are kind of already replicated elsewhere.

Flying? Soarin' and Peter Pan
Boat ride through treasure caves? Pirates
Chase through cursed temple? Indy
Indoor coaster through cursed temple? Mummy at Universal

Aladdin could do all in one, and be a great ride at a new(er) Disneyland, but I think Disney knows they've tried a lot with this property (parade, shows, spinner, walk-through, VR, 3D movie, etc) and nothing really sticks. Much of the movie's appeal comes from the performances, be they voice work or "shows" in the context of the story ("Friend Like Me", "Prince Ali") and not so much the action, even if there are action set-pieces.

I can’t think of one IP off the top of my head that would fit with a boat ride that is actually want at DCA. So Pan 2.0 it is. A Coco Attraction definitely feels like a better fit for DCA than Aladdin.

Really, I want the modern Peter Pan treatment, that's the ride Aladdin deserved. I certainly don't think one type of ride precludes doing it again (looking to the large lineup of Fantasyland classics).

But the issue is where do you make that fit so it is not redundant and actually belongs? TDS was obviously the one until they went and basically framed the expansion plot with Soaring and Pan (which might be more FoP like). But I don't know if a practical OG Pan-like ride would be horrible in that corridor, in the grand scheme of things.

An E ticket version of an Aladdin ride would have it all and nothing they ve done at the parks in regards to Aladdin so far could capture the feeling of a thrilling escape from the Cave of Wonders or a slow journey Around the world (whole new world) in large show scene (think a 2020 version of the London scene from Pan but much larger and bigger sets). An Aladdin ride hits all the notes... fun, thrilling, funny, adventure, great music/ songs etc.. kind of like Splash Mountain does.

The problem with the boat ride is that to do it well, you need a really big honkin' show building. We are increasingly losing places where really big honkin' show buildings can be erected at DLR.

Ya, some days I pretend like they might extend DCA over the road into Simba. But you are right, there is no space to do it justice left.

There was, at one point, a Fantasyland Station. Does anyone know if Wagner did a spiel for that?

They could just rebrand the station Fantasyland and restore that audio if it exists.
All I have is the Frontierland, New Orleans Square, Tomorrowland, Toontown etc announcements. As far as I know (which isn't everything), a Fantasyland station announcement wasn't recorded.
