I really don't ubderstand why they went with the newer, "edgy" Mickey which really is already yesterday's news. As with Kim Possible & Phineas and Ferb in Epcot, Disney's again a bit late to the party. If they'd gone with a more classic look, such as they did so wonderfully in "Get a Horse," they'd have guaranteed timelessness. I'm sure the ride will still be fun, regardless. It'll just look unpleasant and dated in a year or two.
(Edit) I mean, isn't the whole point of the ride to be a trip into the crazy world of old Mickey cartoons that were shown in theaters? This is a trip into a here-today-gone-tomorrow TV production. But I guess in today's Disney, nothing pre-Mermaid matters much unless it's wearing a tiara.
