Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway - Disneyland

Yessir! It was cool and definitely helps that portion of the ride. I still think Rise leaves a lot to be desired, but it helps when the effects actually work as intended.

It'd be like if the boulder in Indy stopped working weeks after the ride opened. The Cannons are critical to that portion of the ride.

The canons are critical and when working I think it’s the best scene on that ride. ROTR has really grown on me but I know a lot of that has to do with seeing it through my sons eyes and getting that sweet high from taking newbies on it all the time.

I also have a weird fondness for Admiral Beck and enjoy a lot of his dialogue/ voice. I really love the unload station. The end of the ride is great from the canons through unload minus the awkward Kylo Ren AA

I read over in the WDW Rise thread that (allegedly) the engineers in Disneyland discovered some kind of programming error in the code for one of the cannons. After the code was fixed it eliminated the issue that was e-stopping the cannons at seemingly random times. Sounds like they implemented it.

Edit: trying to find recent videos on YouTube, but none of them have A-mode cannons.

You're correct! I posted the same thing in the misc. thread, the rumor came from Reddit and the reason was a time drift error.

I sure hope the cannons are finally functional; it adds so much necessary kinetic energy to the climax.

Same. Was a real show-stopper, from what I recall. Hopefully it doesn't go the way of...well, mostly everything in Indy.

There's a difference between an effect not working because it was poorly designed, and an effect not working because Disney hasn't properly maintained it... 25+ years after the ride opened.

The only effect in Indy that doesn't work due to poor design would be the ice effect, but that was minor and hardly 'show stopping'. The ride is fine without it.

Every time I go on Rise I'm like.... this should have been the original Trilogy.

For the opening 'hologram' debriefing, R2D2 and Leia instead of Rey and BB8.

Admiral Ackbar instead of the fake Admiral Ackbar.

Empire instead of First Order. Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin instead of Hux and Kylo Ren. Vader would be a more realistic animatronic as well.

Luke instead of Poe. Han Solo instead of Finn.

Right now it's an impressive ride- but it lacks the emotional connection needed in a Star Wars ride. This would help. Also, Star Wars music needs to be louder and more present throughout the attraction.

Also, the ride needs a better premise than 'we're evacuating Batuu it's dangerous', since the ride ends on Batuu- so it's like if it's dangerous then now what?

My biggest issues with the land have always been lack of kinetic energy, lack of greenery/ water features, the fact that it’s not fun and to a much lesser extent the fact that it’s very OT light. I agree ROTR would have more of an emotional connection with the OT characters and music.

It never ceases to shock me how many predictable issues these ride designers seem ignorant of. I'm disappointed we aren't getting the proposed Avenger's attraction, but at least the revised version seems cognizant of the fact that it will be popular and crowded.

That is what happens when most of WDI is made up most of people just working project to project, not being an official long time employee. Also when almost none of them have in-park experience and just come out of design schools or other industries.

I saw the cannons working in A mode on Rise of the Resistance. I don't think those have worked properly in years...

2/3 guns have been off since Sept 2021, All 3 since early 2022

Had Carrie Fisher not passed, it was going to be Leia as the hologram. Also R2 and C-3PO were supposed to be in room right before the hologram where the map is, but $$$.
Now THOSE feel like a real shame. It makes sense that C-3PO and R2 were nixed given that they can be seen elsewhere in the park, so it's not like guests would be completely deprived of them, but that would have been a punchier first taste of the ride ahead. I don't mind Rey being the hologram, but Leia's presence there would certainly have felt more profound. I have to assume Rey would have still been included elsewhere in the ride, there's no way they wouldn't have had her make some appearance.

Also, too lazy to read through the entire thread -- do we know if Disneyland's planning a virtual queue for M&MRR?

Very excited for this attraction (and for Toontown to reopen).

Yeah, I remember seeing Jessica's trench coat prior to the land's closure. In an ideal world, they used the downtime to fix some of the broken effects while refraining from any further Puritanical updates.
