Mickey’s Soundsational Parade heading to Disneyland in 2011

We were there on Friday as well and have video of another angle (and the sound cleaned up a bit):
Mickey's Soundsational Parade - Commercial Filming in Disneyland

Hey, that's a great video that sums it all up in 2 minutes! And the last bit really captures the new Soundsational jingle that seems to be the interstitial song that ties the whole parade together. Thanks for sharing.

Just from this little taste of commercial filming, I am now confident that Mickey's Soundsational Parade is going to be one heck of a great parade for Disneyland! Another winner from Steve Davison, that's for sure.

What a fantastic summer this will be for Disneyland. :sohappy:

You're welcome.. I'm certainly happy to share! We're planning another trip to the park on June 3rd, so we'll get to the see the parade in its entirety -- Very much looking forward to that!

Epcot
No current parade, since Tapestry of Nations ended in 2001

A minor correction (minor in the sense that it's still been a long time since Epcot had a parade), but Tapestry of Nations was replaced by Tapestry of Dreams, which ran until 2003. I still fondly recall rushing to ALL FOUR of WDW's daytime parades with one of my roommates one adventurous afternoon during my College Program in 2002. :)

Looking forward to seeing the new Disneyland parade in September!

Kevin and Jody are also part of the parades production-
Our projects have been on a roll, too. Besides producing new art and merchandise, Jody and I are art directing a new Disneyland parade called "Soundsational" to debut next year (it's gonna be great)! And somehow or another, I'm cramming on an art piece for a Palm Springs show in September.

I completely forgot about this but this is why some parts of the 2 floats reminded me of something I'v seen before.

Soundsational has a great set of creative people behind it.

One thing I really don't like are the drummer costumes. They look like something from casp. I just looked back at the concept art and very much prefer that version. They're a lot more classic looking and not so modern. Meh.

That's not to say when the parade debuts a month from now the costumes won't be different. Often when they film these commercial a month in advance, the costumes for the parade CM's aren't ready at this early date, and so they put them in borrowed outfits from other events.

Uh.... Wow. Just looking at that photoset you linked above sponono88, this parade looks like an utterly fabulous production. (And I don't throw around the word fabulous too often) I wanted to get to the park today to see the 4:30 parade, but I couldn't get away from some business in time to make it. These pictures have just made up for it!

I can't wait to see it myself, and hear the music! It looks like there is about a hundred different performers in this thing, and many of them are playing real instruments!

It looks like Disneyland has done it again! Soundsational! :sohappy:

Looks fantastic, maybe wdw will get this in a year or 2 as a "second hand" from it's older cousin like we usually do :hammer:

probably the only way we will get ANYTHING new ANYTIME soon

What a fun parade! There's so much to see and listen to! If I watched this like, 10 times, I'd probably see something new every time. I love the pop up book design of the floats, love the characters they chose, the costumes, everything!

What is that yellow thing in the Aladdin section? :lol:

Yeah, there's so many hidden details in the floats. Also I'd love to see this parade at night, it looks like those floats have some great lighting.

looks WAY better than either of the tired or garbage parades going on at MK or DHS right now....:mad:

No kidding.

And after watching some full YouTube videos of the two WDW parades at MK and DHS from this spring, here's how those two parades break down by the numbers compared to Disneyland's totally awesome new Mickey's Soundsational Parade. For those keeping score at home... :lol:

Magic Kingdom - Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade
Run Time = 7:30 Minutes
Floats = 6
Push Units = 0
Performers/Dancers = 29
Characters = 44
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-RrHht28-s

Disney Hollywood Studios - Countdown To Fun Parade
Run Time = 7:10 Minutes
Floats = 6
Push Units = 2 (The two rolling traffic cones at the very end)
Performers/Dancers = 31
Characters = 18
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZNMJ4llNcM

Disneyland USA - Mickey's Soundsational Parade
Run Time = 15:00 Minutes
Floats = 9
Push Units = 6
Performers/Dancers = 71
Characters = 33
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtMVRrx2IVw

So... yeah, the statistical numbers prove why Disneyland's parades compare so favorably to WDW's parades. And Mickey's Soundsational Parade continues that tradition.

I have to say, I love the soundtrack to Soundsational. It's got a unique new base track that morphs into the custom-arranged popular theme songs from the various movies as each float passes by. And no show stops or anything, the parade keeps chugging along and yet it's still a 15 minute long extravaganza. Add in the usual high school marching band visiting from Utah or Oregon or somewhere local in SoCal plus the Grand Marshall car beforehand, and that's a big block of time to be entertained. Soundsational! :D

Lots more YouTube videos are showing up of Soundsational from its preview performance yesterday. A YouTube search will give you a good dozen now, but here's a neat one from the step-off point at the Small World Mall, where Soundsational first appeared to the public.

I just noticed watching that particular video that talkin' and blinkin' Mickey has made his debut in this parade. Mickey's mouth talks along with his dialogue in the parade, and he blinks as he speaks and plays the drums. Is this the first time Talking Mickey has been used in an American parade? I think it might be. A welcome touch!

One other note on firsts for Mickey...

This is the first time Mickey Mouse has played a full drum set, provided by the nice folks at Yamaha. But really it's a nod to the early days of Disneyland parades, when Mickey Mouse always led the parade by riding a giant drum that he would hit with a huge drumstick. So the drum gag in Soundsational is really a throwback to 1960's Disneyland and Mickey's first giant drum. Clever!

Pics and vids look great! :sohappy:

We're planning a trip to Disneyland next summer and this is just one more reason (of many!) to really be looking forward to that trip.

Someone above mentioned seeing this parade at night. I thought Soundsational was the afternoon parade. Will it run at night also?

In love with the music! It's been going round& round in my head for the past two days now. Love how all the floats run smoothly into each other too, unlike PoD's different tempos.

The floats look awesome too! Such detail.

One thing I'm wondering though, where's the showstop? This parade would be so good for interaction!
