Mickey’s Soundsational Parade heading to Disneyland in 2011

Someone above mentioned seeing this parade at night. I thought Soundsational was the afternoon parade. Will it run at night also?

Yes, it will run at night for about four months out of the year; late October through March. The second parade each day at 6:30PM will occur in near darkness or a totally black sky during those months. (Don't forget, Anaheim is further north than Orlando, about the same lattitude as Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and it gets darker a bit earlier in winter).

The Soundsational Parade, as with all Disneyland parades, was built with this winter night mode in mind. All the floats and elements have lighting and light effects built into them.

****Also will they use the talking mickey everyday for the parade now, or was that just used for the opening? Because knowing how the heads work at MK. Im guessing it had to be synced because I would imagine that it would be really hard to control the mouth and eyes AND play the drums at the same time...

Apparently Talking Mickey is here to stay for Soundsational, and wasn't just a gimmick for the media preview day. Mickey's been talking along with the soundtrack at the parades yesterday and today. I have no idea how this technology works, but it's perfectly synced with Mickey's dialogue in the parade all while he plays the drums in perfect time with the soundtrack and the drumline guys in front of him. It was very impressive to see.

Here's a great video from Friday, taken by someone who has a very high quality camera and who got a curbside seat in The Hub. The music in this parade is so catchy, I've been humming "Come on, come on, Soundsational" all day long.

An awesome curbside full video of Soundsational! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICSXfAVG8zI

Disneyland has added this little show featuring some of the Soundsation Drummers. Using a bicycle from Celebrate! A Street Party, and some music from Block Party Bash. A fun addition to the park.

Disneyauditons.com has an audition in Oct for Soundsational. The way this quote makes it seem that Soundsational will indeed take a short hiatus while A Christmas Fantasy takes over, plus some of the floats would be taller than the garland across Main Street.

Rehearsals begin in November. Performances continue in January 2011

Although in 2005 DL ran both Parade of Dreams and A Christmas Fantasy, but that was the 50th, and no garland across the street.

So not the best video but a nighttime performance of Mickey's Soundsational Parade.

Uh, gang, is it just me or does Soundsational maybe look even better at night than it does in the daytime?!?

All the floats have special lighting, roving spotlights, and illuminated effects. The costumes sparkle more. The colors look more saturated.

Here's just a brief clip of the Tiana float from a recent night performance of Soundsational. See if you don't agree this parade really looks great at night! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOqvqewrQdA

Haven't seen it in person (yet! :animwink:), but it definitely seems that way from the videos! I'm of the opinion that all the shows, parades and the parks in general, are more magical at night.

At last nights Annual Passholder event there was a panel discussion about Mickey's Soundsational Parade. With Jody Daily and Kevin Kidney who were the Art Dircetors for the parade, and John Addis Senior Show Director at DLR.

Also part of the Annual Passholder event was a night time showing of the parade. Later The Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, Mary Poppins, 3 Caballeros, and Peter Pan floats were out along with the performers for meet and greets and a close up look at the floats.

^^ What a fun event! Now I'm kicking myself for not even trying to get one of the tickets off the Disney Parks Blog.

And when even Al Lutz praises the event, you know it must have been good. From Miceage today...

EDITOR'S NOTE 10/14: Of the nearly 5,000 people at the first Annual Passholder party on Wednesday night, only a couple thousand were the AP's fitting the demographic they were really after. But the first AP event in over a decade went off without a hitch. Short attraction lines and a classy and unique way to showcase the new parade made for a magical evening on a warm autumn night, with resort President Kalogridis working the crowd and posing for pictures like a proud father. With this success, there will be more AP offerings to come. -Al Lutz

I hope this is just the first of these types of AP events and that George Kalogridis has more planned.

Looks like a fun time and i'm hoping they have more of these in the future.

When is TDLs 30th? And that is good news for WDW! yet bad news... Probably will be a new parade, But, that means a couple more years of CADCT... :hurl:

TDL turns 30 April 15, 2013, hmm hopefully I'll be able to visit that year. Fingers crossed!

I want WDW parades to be on par to Anaheim, Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong's parades...

Something new for WDW could mean Many Many things. Fantasmic!, Illuminations, MK Fireworks, SpectroMagic, etc.
