I haven't seen any in person of course, but they seem like "nice" efforts. I appreciate they're actually trying. Maybe things can get improved upon over the years. But it's a nice start.

I'd enjoy SM in pitch black. And I'd actually go on Mad Tea Party.

And it's sad to see anyone complain about using live actors in Pirates. Really not sure what people wanted with that one. Seems decent enough?

This is one of those "they can never win" things.

Glad you enjoyed it!

EDIT: (instead of a new post because I thought of this after I posted) While maybe not "amazing efforts", some of this, with the help of the new stage show introduced a few years ago, has me reconsidering attending a party. I'm actually considering it for the first time in 10 years. But I wish they had updated the fireworks (but it's still a solid show that I'd like to see in person again before/if they change it up in the future) and changed up the parade a little more (but the music remains catchy and fun, I'd hate to lose that so float updates would be nice). So we'll see.

But I do like seeing them try new things and updating things, slowly. I guess parades and fireworks are more "wants" than "needs" but how long can guests, even if they are favorites, want to keep seeing the same when the regular parades and fireworks have gotten (and it's subjcetive, of course) better? Hopefully soon we get some updates.

They have a live actor outside, in the queue and on the attraction, I believe. That's three. But I think you were expecting more live actors on the actual attraction, to be honest they weren't overly clear on what it exactly would be. I'm not saying it can't be improved ... but I like they made some effort. Of course I'd like more of what you were probably picturing, but it's a minor offering so I'm not too bothered either way.

We need to have our expectations in check when WDW does these kind of things ;) not excusing slight laziness ... but we know how they do things. The bare minimum. But the bare minimum in this case isn't the worst. It's just a bit underwhelming. But not awful. The idea is nice.

Does anyone have the times guide? I’m going in two weeks and just wanted to start planning it out

I wonder how much the ride changes have to do with crowd management? MNSSHP is very Main Street / hub centric (as MK at night always is), and people know about how much shorter ride lines are thanks to social media. Some sites even discourage going on them because there's nothing different about them during party hours.

Giving an incentive to go elsewhere in the park besides dance parties and trick-or-treating might make the parties feel less crowded.

It does seem like maybe it was more of a "we want you on some attractions" thing with a "but we aren't going to put a ton of money into it". It seems more like a quick "fix" in a way. Not things they really planned out and spent a lot of money on. Not sure they need to spend a ton. Some of it has promise though. I've always thought they sort of short-changed guests for the parties by not doing more with the attractions.

I hadn't thought about it from that perspective, but it makes a lot of sense. No big drastic changes, just small "enhanced" offerings that will draw guests in.

I'm not sure what other attractions could have a quick overlay like the ones they did. I know they have the Jingle Cruise around the holidays but they run that during normal hours as well as the parties. So I don't think a Jun-Ghoul Cruise is in the offing any time soon.

Any Haunted Mansion overlay would immediately be compared to Disneyland's and would require downtime which WDW isn't willing to do. I'm not sure what other rides they could change for the parties, thoughts?

I can't see Mansion ever getting an overlay. I like the idea but even I agree it's not really 'worth it' for the MK to do it. It's already made for Halloween ;) it doesn't need a Christmas overlay.

I'd take Small World Holiday and Country Bears Christmas. Those and Jingle Cruise would be enough. EDIT: but none of those are "party specific". They're all day offerings. But they'd still be nice.

Well I for one am glad that they do not do the HM overlay. I like it just the way it is and would not want to have to schedule around it.

As for party enhancements,
Jungle Cruise could easily have actors added to scenes.
Mickey's Philhamagic could get a party exclusive movie.
BTM could have actors at the second lift hill and in some strategic spots.
Ghosts added to TSI, viewable from Frontierland and the Liberty Bell.

Mansion is just begging for silent live actors to scare Party guests.

Last year they showed The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and Lonesome Ghosts in there while giving out candy. Not sure if they did it on Friday or not.

I'd be in favor of adding live actors to Haunted Mansion in some spots like they tried with Disneyland in the 80s.

But think about the CHILDREN! ;)

That's why they won't. But they should. It'd be great! At least they have comedic relief outside in the form of live actors.

Gunpowder Pete isn't exactly scaring guests. It's "not so scary" after all ;)

I really think they've missed the boat not doing a more permanent Villains offering at the Studios. Too bad they handled both events so badly. If every single villain wasn't "rare" you wouldn't have the insane demand. They don't seem to get that. (Or they just haven't figured out a way to make money off of them without it being a crush of guests; guests want to meet these characters, so stop making everyone rare). They did it to themselves.

Not that Fantasyland needs more rides, but I would love it if Disney created a mini land off of it called ‘Land of the Villains’ or something. Bring back Snow White’s Scary Adventures, create Bald Mountain (and not the multi villain one that I read about somewhere), and add a version of the Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour (just with it being set in Maleficent’s castle, and without the Horned King). Offerings like that would be insanely popular for a lot of guests.
