I didn't copy and paste.

I'll be sure to point out anytime in the future you state something that could have been read somewhere or write a comment that I feel is not in the appropriate thread, since that is what you have done.

One part of me wants DCA's footprint expanded, but it doesn't have the same overcrowding in general areas that DL does.

So I guess I'd rather they fix Hollywoodland first.

This would officially mark the end of the DCA redo, everything would have been redone in some way.... Apart from the eventual flattening of Bugs Land.

I also took note they mentioned elements of Tokyos fantasyland specifically in the article. I still can't fathom DL also getting B&TB - is that even fair to MK? Maybe just Frozen + a proper indoor theater is what they mean.

If Disney actually does go through with turning Hollywood Land into some sort of Marvel area, that wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Nor me. While I like ToT as is I can see the logic of a Marvel re-theme for Disney execs. They want Marvel in DCA to help shift crowds while Star Wars is being built and to balance crowds after. Cap and Spidey are there in a slapped together meet & greet space, but that isn’t enough keep guests at DCA. The new Miceage report continues to push the strong rumors that a Marvel Land is going in around ToT, but that will take a couple of years at least. What they can do fairly quickly is re-skin ToT into a Marvel GotG attraction, which (1) is an IP Disney owns; (2) so Disney isn’t paying a license fee; (3) is much more familiar to younger folks than the 50 year old Twilight Zone theme; (4) is much cheaper than building an E-ticket from scratch.

So the plan would be re-do the Tower, put in a dedicated meet & greet space area, re-theme the Tower gift shop to Marvel, add a couple of dining options, press on with whatever is being purpose built for Marvel, and in 2-3 years you have a pretty big Marvel Land with two E-tickets (The former Tower and whatever coaster-type thing they put in), dining and shops at a much lower cost than building the entire land from nothing.

From the exec’s view, what’s not to like?

They do mention a character meet and greet. Maybe Disneyland gets that because you know there is no place to actually meet characters at Disneyland.;)

Spot on.

I believe Disney truly thinks adding a Marvel section to DCA will in some way help Disneyland's crowds after SWL. Don't see that happening, personally.

Just to clarify, the article says that Marvel should be taking over the hollywood backlot area not all of hollywoodland in order to save the Timon parking lot for future expansion which I can totally get behind.

That makes the lands really bizarre in that section of the park. Hollywood land has a really small sliver that goes all the way to the Hyperion from Carthay Circle and Marvel is split in half with the backlot on one side and Guardian Tower on the other.

I do prefer this over taking the expansion plot, but still it's weird.

To add: I still dislike Guardians going into Tower of Terror. I just don't want them to use one of their last expansion pads.

You need to understand that some links to other disney sites are banned.
Hence why not everyone posts full links.
other sites could also be behind paywalls, hence why a cut and paste or a resume works.

No idea why you need to be an ahole on someone who wanted to give a bulleted resume.
I like to say that I am sorry to @Virtual Insanity. That was wrong of me. I am sorry.

I know this has been brought up before in the form of Cars Land and other things, but I don't understand the potential decision of putting a Marvel section in replacement of Hollywoodland in a California-themed park. It just seems like they're not even trying to put attractions in that fit with the theme, it's just becoming a catch-all studios mess. But it's not like they can't; Buena Vista Street is one of the best products the Imagineers have put out in years, certainly the best in DCA in my opinion.

Exactly. They age given up. They've done the same with Tomorrowland as well, given up. I believe they want the fans to give up as well.

Because there's literally nowhere else to put it and there are no plans to build a third gate. The major flaw has always been that Disney painted themselves into a corner by making a California themed park in the first place. That said, a Marvel land is inevitable and with Star Wars going into DL, that only leaves DCA for Marvel who needs it more anyways despite the California theme.

Thank you

Moving on, yes it is truly unfortunate about DCA becoming Iger's IP Adventure. The park's idea was flawed from the beginning and they had the chance to rebrand it to something more appropriate in 2012, to the direction they were taking it in the future. It has become a collection of themed lands with no overriding connection to each other.

The Miceage editor just replied in the comments that they don't have more info yet because the plans are not solid enough. But he/she says there is currently "momentum" behind bringing the Tokyo attractions to Anaheim as part of a Fantasyland expansion.

5/3/16 Latest Miceage update dropped:

- Cuts due to Shanghai resulted in the closure of Paradise Garden Grill. Also CM's are not being hired for the busy summer season as what typically happens this time of year. Smaller CM staffing will also likely be a long term thing due to CA's minimum wage going up over the next several years.

- Food and Wine was a much bigger success than expected and count on it being bigger next year.

- Short of a Shanghai disastrous opening, Tower of Terror turning into a Marvel attraction appears to be happening. The plan is for it to close in the fall and be ready to open next May when DCA will host the premiere of Guardians 2.

- The rest of Marvel land is now slated to take over the rest of Hollywood land instead of the expansion pad behind Tower. Monster's Inc is likely a goner. The Marvel coaster is right now slated for 2020

- Overall expansion at DLR is the following: Guardian tower 2017, Star Wars in late 2018, Marvel coaster 2020, and Fantasyland expansion anchored by Frozen somewhere between 2021 and 2024

- MuppetVision is gone for good

- If Soarin over the world flops at DCA they may bring back the CA film to one of the theaters.

- DCA's attendance is actually over 10 million a year now instead of what TEA is reporting

I guess my underlying problem is that they don't have to cram in every single successful IP, and yet they do anyway. They don't have to force Frozen and Star Wars into Disneyland, or Marvel into DCA, and yet they are. Disney has proved their ability to create immersive, original experiences, most recently BVS, that people enjoy and love. I'm just having a difficult time watching them forgo originality and imagination to shove in whatever's selling the most toys.

Yea now the Gaurdians tower doesnt make much sense anymore considering the whole idea was for it to be a transition between regular hollywoodland and the marvel mini land. I honestly have a feeling it will end up being temporary.
