Mermaid Signage Gruesome?

I don't complain about everything! I think BoG is awesome, as is Enchanted Tales with Belle and I think Gaston's will be good, and I'm starting to think 7DMT will add both a fun ride and great landscaping to the area.

This message board is full of people who have "complaints" about various details and going-ons at the resort. So, if I have a legitimate observation/concern, I'll probably discuss it online, no harm there, unless you work for WDW's PR department!

I don't seem to be out on a limb as other folks on this thread sort of think that the signage looks off, and you yourself said,

I'd seriously be surprised if the sign was changed in the future.

When I said everything, I meant everything about Mermaid. There's no end. Your complaints are almost like nitpicking. No, I'll take that back, they are nitpicking. Over The Little Mermaid. A kiddie dark ride. I think the yeti has gotten less complaints. It's very annoying. And one could say don't respond, but just knowing a thread complaining about whatever in Mermaid is irritating and annoying enough.

I'm guessing we won't be getting a break anytime soon? The day the attraction opens is a day I'm dreading on this forum.

Speaking of the Yeti, they should really fix that thing.

I find it odd to use aeriel as a figurehead on the boat Since she is supposed to be a real character.. But gruesome? No. I think the statue or her as a real figure would have been better.. But I don't think the current one is some huge negative.

I said the grass looked good on Mermaid, and I have said that MK's Mermaid's queue is overall better than DCA's queue! You do realize that that this a free country, and that on a message board populated by diehard Disney fans, even a "kiddie dark ride" will get picked over from every angle? Do you think it is "OK" to criticize the Yeti, but that Mermaid should be hallowed ground that shouldn't be criticized, or that being a "kiddie" dark ride Mermaid isn't worth a second look and critical evaluation?

Definitely not gruesome, but I don’t find it odd either. Ships of that time period had figureheads on them. What figurehead would you expect on Prince Eric’s ship?

So, at least even flynnibus agrees with me a little bit that the Ariel figurehead is odd, and not a huge negative, (but this leaves room for a little negative I take it?). Maybe gruesome was the wrong word, but I really had that response when I saw the whole product. Everybody's got an opinion.

My expectations would depend in part on when in the timeline we are, after Eric meet Ariel or before. And what if he commissioned the figurehead *after* she was turned into a human? Would he want to remind her of the aquatic world she left behind? Also, it is actually a shipwreck, as opposed to a real ship . . . is it Eric's ship? Crashed on the rocks below his castle? Wouldn't he send out servants to chop up the wood and clean it up?

I would also mention that the shipwreck has lanterns with lights on it. Will look good at night, but would a shipwreck really look this way?

Yes, the point of a discussion forum is so there are discussions.
And everybody has different tastes and opinions, obviously, but you most often than not come out purely as bitter and negative.

We don't have to agree on everything and like the same stuff, but you should just work a bit on your communication skills. They are lacking.

Wow, now we are really being picky. Okay, here's the really story, it was a dark and stormy night, Ursula upset that she had been defeated sent the ship crashing into the rocks below his castle. Ariel heard the crash and came running to free Eric from the wreckage. To honor his wife, Eric told the men to decorate the ship with lights and turn it into a monument. It’s been there ever since. She is a mermaid on the boat because it’s important to remember who we really are and the sacrifices we make for those we love.

My honest opinion of certain aspects of Mermaid is kinda low, while I really like some features of MK's Mermaid queue. So, it's a mixed bag for me.

You do realize that if I improve my "communication skills" I would be much more effective in my critique of Mermaid and other rides? Do you really want me to practice these skills so I can fervently critique shortcomings in certain attractions?

That's pretty creative.

What I realize is you're the only one on this board that picking at the ride from every angle. Have you noticed that? Have you noticed you're the only poster on this board that's doing this? Even MiceChatters aren't complaining to this extent, and that's a forum full of Disneylanders.

The difference between the yeti and Mermaid is the yeti is a broken animatronic that contributes to the show of the attraction. There's nothing broken about Mermaid. Heck, it hasn't even opened in MK, yet.

Pixiedustmaker, your routine has really gotten old. It's tired. It's done. Move on.

You have made it very clear that you hate the upcoming Ariel attraction. You hate everything about it in a deep-seated personal level. The very thought of it makes you want to hurl yourself off the Brooklyn Bridge. It's an insult and a travesty and a shameful moment in Disney history.

We all know you feel that way. Do you really have to start meaningless threads finding every pathetic, pitiful way to insult the attraction? You know, a lot of people who have ridden the California version enjoy it. It's OK that you don't.

Others have made appraisals of certain known features of Mermaid which weren't exactly flattering.

I don't think we need to limit our discussion of things we don't like to broken animatronics on rides that have been open for years. Nothing wrong with discussing Mermaid as there are plenty of pictures to look at on this site and others.

Once again, its a free country and everybody can decide what they'd like to discuss.

I would love for you to send me links to other threads, that aren't yours, that also complain about certain things in Mermaid.

I'm not saying it's wrong. I said it was annoying and irritating. Like you said, it's a free country, so just like you have the right to post what you want, I have the right to tell you it's annoying to not only me, but to others as well. Plus, I never demanded you stop. I just asked when we were going to catch a break. Not the same.
