Why is that the one song that everyone knows? He wrote lots of other songs, really popular ones (Sundown, Carefree Highway, If You Could Read My Mind). But the stuff that wasn't popular and well known is better. :D

See, the thing with Gordon lightfoot is, if an attractive, 18 year old woman listens to him, it's sort of quirky-cool. If someone like me listens to him, people would start shoveling dirt on me.

Wow,

Gordon Lightfoot... I have always liked his stuff, and he is even before *my* time! (I just turned 36). I liked his music because my uncle used to do covers of his songs in New Orleans when I was a kid.

I am wondering how you discovered Lightfoot, it's not like he gets much radio play anymore -- at least not around here. Is he an artist your parents liked and played a lot?

No offense...and I know he's a very talented artist...

But, when you hear that name...don't you just think of a cheesy Star Wars parody? maybe it's just me

Gordon Lightfoot...Defender of the Universe

To be honest (and yes, I know Brian will cyber smack me), I picture some He-Man type thing.

My mom liked Gordon Lightfoot a bit in the 70s, but not obsessively like me, lol. She has only two of his albums (Summertime Dream & Gord's Gold). She didn't play them much, either, if ever. I just listened to both albums and got hooked. -shrug-
