You can't do that. All you can do is change some pyro and a few effects ... and that is no change at all.
You're still left with a show touting how great the new milennium will be ... and we all realize how that sure hasn't been the case at all.
You'd just bastardize an amazing show ... yet one that needs to be retired ... and, frankly, did 5-6 years ago now.

I really don't get that specific meaning at all. Yeah, "another thousand circles 'round the Sun", but that could easily just mean "a long time", like saying "many moons ago". I've watched the show live or online dozens of times and I listen to the music at least a couple times a week and I never made that connection that this was only about the millennium. It's a story about the Earth, about human civilization: a shared history that has led us to where we are today and a message of unity for the future. What does it matter if that "today" is some year to which we have assigned a number that works out nicely in the base 10 number system, counting forward from an event that turns out probably didn't even happen when we think it did and not everyone thinks is important in the first place? Maybe it's because I was an anthropology major, but I think that's a timeless message AND perfect for Epcot (or even EPCOT) AND perfect for the World Showcase Lagoon.
Now is it a perfect show? No. For example, I think the fountains are underpowered to the point of being pointless. Also, the Earth globe is really not as good at being a screen as it should be. However, I think the show has a good backbone where new and improved effects can be slotted in. I'm not sure you'd ever get a nighttime show that's a better thematic fit for the park.
