You can't do that. All you can do is change some pyro and a few effects ... and that is no change at all.

You're still left with a show touting how great the new milennium will be ... and we all realize how that sure hasn't been the case at all.

You'd just bastardize an amazing show ... yet one that needs to be retired ... and, frankly, did 5-6 years ago now.

I really don't get that specific meaning at all. Yeah, "another thousand circles 'round the Sun", but that could easily just mean "a long time", like saying "many moons ago". I've watched the show live or online dozens of times and I listen to the music at least a couple times a week and I never made that connection that this was only about the millennium. It's a story about the Earth, about human civilization: a shared history that has led us to where we are today and a message of unity for the future. What does it matter if that "today" is some year to which we have assigned a number that works out nicely in the base 10 number system, counting forward from an event that turns out probably didn't even happen when we think it did and not everyone thinks is important in the first place? Maybe it's because I was an anthropology major, but I think that's a timeless message AND perfect for Epcot (or even EPCOT) AND perfect for the World Showcase Lagoon.

Now is it a perfect show? No. For example, I think the fountains are underpowered to the point of being pointless. Also, the Earth globe is really not as good at being a screen as it should be. However, I think the show has a good backbone where new and improved effects can be slotted in. I'm not sure you'd ever get a nighttime show that's a better thematic fit for the park.

We can see a new horizon builds on all that we have done "AND WE DREAM OF A NEW TOMORROW THAT IS RISING WITH THE SUN". Only change needed other than upgrades to bring show up to date. BTW' If the show was designed to be exclusively about the Millenium change it would have been retired in 2001.

I'm not sure that argument holds--the Epcot wand was CLEARLY designed for the Millennium Celebration only and they retrofitted it to stay much longer...in the same was as IllumiNations 2000 became just IllumiNations.

No, The wand was something specifically designed for the Millennium Celebration and long overstayed it's welcome. IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth is a timeless story about how we are all one people and we must join together to create a better world.

That's what I've always gotten from ROE. I could see some revisions/enhancements to the show, but would prefer that they keep the music and theme as is. For example, the part that everyone says is "slow", would really benefit from some World of Color technology, but it needn't be changed beyond that.

"Our dreams begin another thousand circles round the sun" was never millennial to me, but hopeful in general, and that lyric sums up the whole show as far as I'm concerned.

I thought that was "it's a small world".
