McD's in MGM

Maybe now with all the McDonalds in the parks, they are gonna have the McDonald's characters walking around signing autograph books.

Why stop with McDonald's? You know what we can do with the theme parks? We can put a Walmart on Main Street since they sometimes do promotions together and then we can add a Hallmark for cheap tacky trailor park gifts instead of that stupid, boring, crappy disney merchandise that used to be in the DISNEY theme parks, and then add a GAP, a Starbucks, etc. and we can call it Main Street Mall. Then we could bulldoze the rest of the park to have plenty of close parking to the Main Street Mall. Is everyone catching my sarcasim yet? McDonalds and anything of the sort is absolutely ridiculous in the theme parks or resorts!
 :p

One might argue the same thing of all the giant Coke displays featured in the parks as well.

Just to clear this up...

I spent 10 years as a U.S.D.A. Meat Inspector. I worked at a plant in Illinois that made Hamburgers for McDonalds. I can assure you they are of the highest quality. There is beef tallow (fat)added but it has less fat than most of the hamburger you buy at your local supermarket. Your average hamburger has 20% fat but McDonalds hamburgers have 17% or less.
The burgers are made from the best cuts of meat from only young steers and heifers that are slaughterd humanely and then inspected at LEAST 5 differant times by the U.S.D.A. I would not hesitate to let my children eat at McDonalds. I would STRONGLY recommend though that all hamburger that you buy from the grocery store be cooked well done. (180ºF. internal temperature)as there have been several cases of Ecoli going around.
I also think that it is good to have McDonalds Restaurants on Disney Property. Young children are sometimes picky eaters but most will eat a simple item like a small hamburger and french fries. My children LOVE McDonalds and would eat there every day if allowed to.

next time you look at a burger just think 17-20% of that meat is actually fat. You wouldn't eat a piece of steak with 20 % of fat attached most people would cut it off, with a burger you don't get that option. People that fill their kids full of burger just cos they are fussy eaters are doing their children a great diservice, fueling obesity amongst children and contributing to serious health problems later in life. A Mc.D's or a BK as a treat now and then fine but not as a staple diet, they are not healthy meals. We need more restaurents serving quality food at fair prices so when families visit wdw they can feed their families healthily and not just fill them with artery clogging crap for a week or two.

I'm speechless... What happened to the lame poster that we have all come to know and... Well, that we've come to know, anyway...

That's a very, very good point you make Jay_London...

Aside from showering you with praise, this post has no purpose. Just don't let it go to your head, OK? ;)

A couple questions scooter:

So these are actually veal burgers?

How can something be slaughtered humanely?

It takes 5 people to determine that the cow is dead?

To answer your questions:

1) No...they aren't veal burgers...Veal is meat from calves less than 9 months old. The point I was making was the hamburgers at McDonalds is NOT meat from old Bulls and Cows..it is made from 2 to 3 year old Steers and Heifers, a much more tender meat.

2) Humane slaughter of animals for human consumption is done in several differant ways. It is designed to make the animals feel as little pain as possible before death. In a perfect world we would all be vegetarians or vegans but unfortunately for the animals, there is a great demand for meat in the world. The slaughtering of animals for food consumption is no doubt a dirty, messy business. We would all like to think that those steaks or pork chops, or those sausages just show up in the market but unfortunately that's not the case. The process of slaughtering animals for food has been going on for years and as long as there is a demand for meat for human consumption it will continue.

3) The 5 inspections I was refering to are differant types of Inspections going on throughout the slaughterhouse processing operations. The animals are first inspected live, in the pens for any diseases that may be detected before slaughter such as rabies and Mad Cow(this is called an ante Mortem Inspection)..then they are inspected several times during the slaughtering operation for internal diseases. If passed then they are inspected again during the meat processing operations (This is called a Post Mortem Inspection) and finally, when shipped they are inspected again before final sale to the retail stores. in the USA there are also STATE and LOCAL inspectors that monitor the handling of meat products in the stores .

If you have any further questions please feel free to EMail me at Es330@aol.com.For obvious reasons I prefer to discuss this off the Boards. Have a Disney Day!!!

Scooter, your information was all very well written and pertinent to the subject but it's rather obvious that you are new to these parts. These guys are all yanking your chain. I mean, look at his avatar, DisneyFreak is a dog. He's saying suspicious things about the content of McD's meat while he's eating Alpo, not to mention, we all know how he cleans himself. ;) Take it from someone who usually makes log (and in my case) boring posts, it's their way of showing affection, at lest I hope it is. :(

Thanks for answering Jay_London's questions scooter. LOL!

The questions actually came from me and I was just giving you a hard time. It's just that "slaughter" and "humanely" just don't seem to go together. No offense.:)

Actually old chap I know what veal is and its lovely. In an ideal world we would eat a balance of meat vegetables and fruit and ronald McDonald would be sent to the electric chair for slowly killing humans by slipping 17% saturated fat into people who think they are eating 100% meat and not 17% saturated fat with meat and other assorted goodies mixed in.

I'm with you on this one Jay IMO burgers from Macky D's are full of S***, if the kids have to have one once in a while then so be it. Unfortunately for a lot of people thes foods are becoming staple dietary foods. As someone who has worked in the medical profession for almost twenty years the increasing number of OBESE children I see on a daily basis is alarming. The problem of medical conditions linked to obesity in Engalnd is now targeted as a major Government target. Current figures indicate that America consumes 1/2 of all food eaten in the world surely Obesity is a problem there too and fast food chains don't have to be in theme parks healthier alternatives could be provided and it would make life easier for parents.
