McDonalds food being removed from Restaurantosaurus?

From Screamscape.com:

According to the latest news Disney is in the process of removing McDonalds food from the Restaurantosaurus, starting with the friest and Chicken Nuggets that will be replaced with Disney’s standard chicken nuggets as seen elsewhere in the resort.

Is this true?

I can't imagine Disney doing this unless it will save them money in some shape or form. Obviously the McDonald's fries are a big money maker elsewhere in the parks and I imagine the nuggets are quite the draw as well. So unless it's significantly more expensive to use the McDonald's products I wouldn't expect them to stop.

This is a copy and paste from the Orlando Sentinel:

"Big food changes afoot

Menu changes are afoot at the Restaurantosaurus restaurant in Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park, starting with the elimination of McDonald's-brand Chicken McNuggets and french fries. The McDonald's fries will still be offered elsewhere in the park, notably at the PetriFries snack counter nearby, a Walt Disney World spokeswoman said. But Disney will offer its own chicken nuggets and fries at Restaurantosaurus, along with a new dessert menu and a new menu for children's meals, spokeswoman Andrea Finger said. The McDonald's McNuggets and fries were replaced Sunday; the other changes kick in Wednesday."

I think this is a lousy move because I think Disney's new "nuggets" are a complete ripoff.

Well, I will say one thing, they must have stopped serving McDonalds burgers there a while ago. I was there last month, I got a cheese burger, that was a Disney burger, and my wife had the Mcnuggets, and french fries, which were McD's brand.

I guess that pretty much confirms it. I have no real feeling on the issue since I don't like McNuggets. I know it will be bad for some parents b/c some kids are picky and McDonalds is something most kids will eat.

I don't think they've ever done McDonald's burgers in the parks, just fries and McNuggets. It's much more time effecient for them to make burgers on a broiler than it would be for them to make McDonald's style burgers which I think is why they've only done fries and nuggets.

The McDonald's logo has been "missing" from the park maps since last month's anniversary. I don't remember seeing a logo over PetriFries, though, but I don't have a map around to check.

Yeah, it's Burger Invasion. It's really annoying to eat there because people keep ringing that bell on the S.S. Rustworthy. Anyway, I'll miss the special Disney toy in the Happy Meals. That's the only loss as far as I'm concerned.

Oh no! The end of an Animal Kingdom era. What will become of the great themed Happy Meals and the great combo of a Disney-made Hot Dog and great McDonald's-made fries!

Not to mention all the McDonald's references in there. Will they be taken down?

Oh well, now I REALLY have a piece of Disney history...I'm the proud owner of a large picture of the orginal Dinoland Happy Meal in a wooden frame that hung as part of the menu options when the park opened in 98'.

I'm not a real fan of the McNuggets, but I don't really like the new Disney Chicken Nuggets they're pushing either. So I guess it doesn't really make that much of a difference to me.

Maybe this is part of their new healthy food initiative they're doing in the parks. Perhaps they're also slowly preparing in case McDonald's ever does sever ties with Dinoland USA.

I wonder what will happen at that stand in Epcot that sells Fries and McNuggets.

Oh who cares. It's not as if you can't go anywhere else in the entire universe and not be able to eat at McDonald's.

I'm not 100% positive but I'm pretty sure the contract Mcdonalds had with Disney for AK was a 10 year contract and apparantly no new contract was signed so it went back to Disney.
