I don't plan to be included in this competition, but I enjoyed this challenge and wanted to post my own ideas as well.
TOMORROWLAND 2071
The theme and aesthetics of Tomorrowland 2071 will be very similar to what was done with Tomorrowland of 1994. Much of the facades will remain with perhaps and push to move from the 1930/40s retro futuristic era toward all encompassing take to combine all of the best eras of optimistic futurism. Tomorrowland 2071 will still be a futuristic city. While much of the facades and aesthetics will look similar by day, some of the bigger changes will be noticable at night where much of the amazing lighting will be upgraded to reflect today's futuristic lighting concepts and technologies. LED lighting will bring more vivid colors to much of the lighting around the land. TRON-esque lighting and embedded concrete fiber optics will bring Tomorrowland more into the digital age. Existing posters/advertisements found throughout the land will be upgraded to screens and will feature similar ads for futuristic travel and products, many with nods to the past.
AVENUE OF THE PLANETS
Avenue of the Planets is the main street of Tomorrowland. Much of Avenue of the Planets will remain unchanged except for the upgrades to lightning and various facade improvements.
Astronomer's Club (formerly Tomorrowland Terrace)
The Astronomer's Club is tucked away in the corner between Tomorrowland and Main Street USA off Avenue of the Planets. This restaurant will breathe new life with a much need upgrade in theming with nods to astronomy and the study of the stars past and present. The restaurant will be quick service for lunch and table service for dinner with a special dinner/dessert seating for Wishes fireworks later in the evening. The restaurant will feature far out "alien dishes" that are presented in strange ways but have familiar tastes to those found on earth. Menu items will be named after star systems and other cosmic entities. The ceiling will come alive while guests dine with animated stars and galaxies swirling above. Balcony seating will be available for fireworks dinner package guests. Since this restaurant also serves as an important corridor for guest travel, the restaurant must be completely reconfigured to allow guests to still travel through without disrupting restaurant operations. From the Main Street side, the building will match more with Main Street while still having some retro futuristic elements, while the main entrance will be from Tomorrowland.
[Unknown Name] (formerly Stitch's Great Escape)
Stitch's Great Escape will be removed from Tomorrowland leaving prime real estate open for a new attraction. Due to the building's location and limitations, I don't see a ride being put in this building. After all, every attraction that has been housed here has used the theater in the round set up. Using this set up, I envision a unique attraction experience using amazing cutting edge technology to bring holographic projections to life sending amazing 3D holograms around the room in a breath taking show that would explore alien worlds and the future. While this idea sounds very far fetched, if Disney could pull off the technology, it could be the next breakthrough in 3D movie experiences. The attraction will be housed in the "Tomorrowland Interplanetary Convention Center" as a new exhibit.
Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
I admit this attraction doesn't completely fit in Tomorrowland, however I think it can still work as long as it has been given a refresh with new skits and more exploration into the Monster world and what daily life is like through use of comedy.
ROCKETTOWER PLAZA
Rockettower Plaza is the heart of Tomorrowland. It serves as the crossroads or the Times Square of Tomorrowland. Thematic additions will make it feel more like the downtown of a busy city with perhaps more "futuristic ads" and "kinetic animations".
Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters (formerly Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin)
With a name changecomes an attraction refresh. Gone is the toy theme to favor more of a real-life galactic adventure with Buzz Lightyear. Guests are joining as recruits to complete a mission. The ride will have better control of your guns and the ride scenes will be much richer. The big screen scene will be upgraded to HD for a vivid crisp display. The name change will allow Disney to naturally tie both attractions together for marketing and merchandise and also help alleviate guest concerns that the ride spins heavily. The attraction will be housed in the "Tomorrowland Space Ranger Recruitment Complex".
Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover
This attraction will remain relatively unchanged except for upgrades in painting, show scenes, audio, and lighting. Ride vehicles will have to remain the same but will feature a more metallic blue paint job to look newer. Seat padding will also be improved. Each dark scene along the tourwill be cleaned to get rid of dusty walls. The City of Tomorrow will be completely refurbished. Hair saloon and transfer station scenes will be completely redone to something else. Audio will be redone similar to the previous narration.
Astro Orbiter
While I haven't done much research on feasibility with how the current ride system and building were constructed and with building weight limits/load limits taken into consideration, I'd like to replace the Astro Orbiter with a newer version of the same ride similar to the one at Hong Kong Disneyland that featured flying UFOs and has more seating capacity. I'd also like to expand the current double elevators in size, but not add more elevators. The elevators need to be replaced to improve capacity and reliability. With those two things taken care of, I feel the line would move quicker. The current ride system is small and only has 12 rockets that hold 2 people each at best. A newer ride model may increase the vehicle count as well as seat more people. Spinning planets will once again return as well. Elevators will also feature rider instructional audio to improve the attraction efficiency as well.
The Lunching Pad at Rockettower Plaza
This quick service stand will be remodeled to bring the order windows up to date. The menu would change and feature the locations signature item: moon juice which would come in a variety of unique flavors. The seating area would also be reconfigured to help with guest flow, utilize table seating better, and help distinguish the seating area from the "street".
Merchant of Venus/Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies
The Merchant of Venus will remain unchanged except for improved merchandise selection that would focus on the area attraction merchandise only. Mickey's Star Traders will feature more generic Disney merchandise. Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies will feature a slight thematic refurbishment to bring it's dated look into the future. Menu items will continue to feature coffee and ice cream as well as some basic bakery items.
GALAXY PALACE GARDENS
I loved this name that was posted by someone above. The Galaxy Palace Gardens will contain the area between "Downtown Tomorrowland" and Space Mountain. It will feature the Galaxy Palace Stage, Carousel of Progress, and of course the gardens.
Carousel of Progress
The Carousel of Progress will receive a major overhaul to bring it up to date. Although it may be controversial, existing show scenes will be removed and preserved and sent to a historical museum. In their place, 4 new scenes will be constructed: 1960s, 1980s, 2000s, Future. The carousel story will continue to follow the family at home, but instead of emphasis on electrical technology, the attraction will focus on how computers have made our lives better. Outside, the Carousel theater will be enclosed with large glass windows giving the attraction more of a futuristic museum look and making the waiting area air conditioned. The presentation outside in the queue will focus on the carousel's history and purpose and how this new version follows the ideals of Walt Disney. The attraction will be presented by the Tomorrowland Metro-Retro Society. Additional upgrades will be made to the ride operating system and the audio animations.
Galaxy Palace Stage (formerly the Tomorrowland Stage)
This stage will change very little except receive more permanent looking lighting structures and more landscaping to the sides. The stage will still be the primary home of Club 626 which will be expanded upon to be more of an "ElecTRONica" atmosphere of select days and evenings. It will also be the home to seasonal shows and new musical performance group that will play future/space themed music from the past decades on futuristic instruments. Think Mulch, Sweat, and Shears meets the Cantina Band from Star Wars. Songs covered might include "Earth Angel", "Shining Star", "Drops of Jupiter", "Black Hole Sun", and "Walking on the Sun".
Galaxy Palace Gardens
This area will serve as rest and relaxation area featuring many benches, the relocated granite ball that floats on water, a small water play area with jumping fountains, and exotic "alien" plants. It will also have an area with plugs similar to the Rapunzel restroom area. (No worries they will be away from the water play area.) At night, these gardens will be full of color from lightning and artificial luminescent plants.
SPACE MOUNTAIN
Much of the Space Mountain area will play off of a starport or airport area. The Tomorrowland Power & Light as well as the Tomorrowland Arcade will take on spaceport theming and name change.
Space Mountain
Space Mountain will retain much of the same exterior look with some changes made to the entry building to resemble more of a star port terminal entry. The changes made here will make the transition from outside on Earth to space port more realistic. The standard queue will also be reconfigured to remove the stairs at the entrance making it wheelchair accessible lessening the impact on the Fastpass line. Improvements will be made to the theme inside to convey the star port atmosphere similar to how Star Tours does. The ride itself will be completely rebuilt with new track and new trains. The track layout will be the same. After all, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. The new track though will allow for a smoother ride, quieter lift hill, and support more weight for larger trains and projection technologies. The trains will be similar to Disneyland's to increase capacity and add on-board audio. The loading area will be equipped with a separate wheelchair loading dock similar to Disneyland as well. The ride will still be very dark but upgrades in projection technology as well as actual props along the track will provide a better experience rocketing through outer space. A new nighttime lighting package will also be added. Seasonal additions will also be taken into account for Mickey's Not-So-Scary and Very Merry Christmas Parties. The overall result of the refurbishment will bring Space Mountain up to date, increase the capacity, and ensure it will last for a long time to come.
INTERSTELLAR DRIVE
This was another name I really loved that someone previous posted so I can't claim it as my own idea. This would encompass the street from Fantasyland to the heart of Tomorrowland. It would serve as a better transition between the lands. The street will transition from a downtown city to a suburban environment to more of rural forested Tomorrowland to transition into Fantasyland.
Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
Cosmic Ray's will still be a bustling quick service restaurant. The restaurant will be reconfigured/expanded to include more seating and allow for better guest flow especially during peak times. The menu will remain mostly the same with burgers, chicken, sandwiches, etc. Cosmic Ray himself will be refurbished to be brought into the 21st century and feature new songs.
House of the Future (formerly Tomorrowland Speedway)
The House of the Future would sit on the outskirts of Tomorrowland. It would be a very minor attraction combine aspects of the Swiss Family Treehouse with the Vision House from Innoventions at Epcot and Disneyland.
Adventure through Inner Space (formerly Tomorrowland Speedway)
Here is a new take on a classic attraction. At the "Tomorrowland Scientific Laboratory" guests are part take an adventure through molecular science. The attraction will be a family thrill ride that combines some mild thrills with awesome effects.
WALL-E: Down to Earth (formerly Tomorrowland Speedway)
This will be a classic Disney dark ride experience following the story of WALL-E,EVE, and environmental responsibility.
THE GRID
The Grid is the newest mini section of Tomorrowland located beyond Buzz Lightyear and Carousel of Progress. The Grid will be a digital environment with heavy ties to Tron. It's important to note that consideration will be made to create a backstage corridor for use during very busy times as an alternative exit to Main Street.
TRON: Enter The Grid
This new e-ticket will play heavily off lightcycle battles of the Tron world.
