Marvel's The Eternals

Trailer probably coming around the time of Shang-Chi's release (give or take a week). That's my guess at least. That's two months before release which is typical for all movies.
There are rumors spreading around that it's tomorrow. The source of these rumors is usually very accurate when it comes to marketing events. Bad thing is that he has all his info on Patreon which you have to pay for.

Honestly I'm struggling to get excited for this one, and I think it's because I have no idea who the bad guy is. The shots have been gorgeous in the trailers, but im still really struggling understanding what they are all of a sudden doing here and what they are fighting.

I'm in the opposite boat, as I'm far more curious about the Eternals than any other Marvel property. I think it's because it looks so different, I think it has POTENTIAL to be something great and special. It could be awful, but I'm the type of person that prefers a filmmaker to shoot for the moon and miss than one who makes a boringly competent movie.

Better trailer. And I'm glad they addressed the
Thanos in the living room (umm, where were you?). But this also confuses the issue since they said they only fight Deviants
and
(at least in comics) Thanos has a Deviant gene, so... either they are purists and only fight pure Deviants or Thanos in this 'verse isn't one

But isn't it true that
Thanos was also an Eternal?
. Not that the Eternals are robots or anything but their
will seem to be mostly directed by the Celestials. So, perhaps while fighting the Deviants in this movie, perhaps the attention becomes focused on breaking free from the Celestials later on.
I'd say that they are under the control of someone SO powerful, this individual makes Thanos look like an ant. After all, you have to raise the stakes going forward.

The explanation that Cersei gave for
why they didn't help against Thanos or even other events
is quick, to the point, and absolutely sufficient for the story.

I mean, I'll go with it and see where the adventure takes us. And I think this trailer was better. But I still am not sure what the movie IS yet. Nor how it fits into the universe we've seen thus far.

But I still think their not helping is as much of a hmmmmmm as oh yeah, Captain Marvel was out there all along but it just never seemed bad enough for Nick to call her. Mmmkayyyyy...

I think we are overthinking the "why didn't __ help out with the ___ conflict before" It just doesn't work that way and we can't obsess about that. The Eternals explanation given in the trailer is about as good of an explanation as there can be. For all we know, this could be a matter of free-will which they didn't have before or have to gain now.

We are fans. We live to obsess about the details. :D

But yeah, if that's the only explanation they give, I'll live with it, same as Nick didn't call Captain Marvel earlier because reasons. :)

Matt Belloni, a former THR writer, is reporting that Disney had finalized a theatrical only release for Etnerals. Here is the quote from his e-mail:

"After Disney C.E.O. Bob Chapek basically dared Shang-Chi to perform in theaters over Labor Day weekend, and it did $94 million domestically, he couldn’t possibly put Eternals on Disney+ day-and-date, right? I’m told Chapek and distribution chief Kareem Daniels have made their decision on the November movie’s fate, and it will indeed receive an exclusive theatrical run. (Disney declined to comment.) Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Angelina Jolie’s agents can exhale now."

With a cast that large and a story spanning 7,000 years it kinda needs to be long in order to develop the story and characters properly.

I REALLY cannot wait to see this movie! Everything about has seemed awesome and, like GOTG, BP, and likely Shang-Chi, it is like a whole new universe.

But something confuses me. I know they are fighting the Deviants, but who is THE villain? There hasn't been any specific name-dropping for any villain. I assume that it is someone named
Kro
as per toy leaks and the second trailer. And the trailer seems to indicate that the
Celestials
may also be evil or at least shady. But no actual name dropping of villains?
