MARVEL's Blade starring Mahershala Ali

Feige calls out how Blade isn't killed, but has had... troubles.

Troubles lead to more delays, and thus being taken off the theatrical schedule. Especially when the CEO says to cut back on Marvel movies.

Could Blade be dead? (pun intended) Sure.

Should one jump to that conclusion? Sure, if you can get rubes to click on your bait.

But if one is not a rube, then one can't conclude that Blade is no more.

Namecalling from our resident polar waddler aside, drinker's video highlighting the insane amount of people who were attached and then left the production reveals once again the utter chaos many recent Disney productions find themselves in.

I don't listen to nor trust The Critical Drinker.
Looking at things objectively, he's a lot more right than wrong on this one. He was pretty spot on with his Rey movie video a couple weeks back too. And it sure is looking like he's going to be right about the Rey film. You have to take all YouTubers, no matter the side, one video at a time.

Feige confirmed that Blade is still coming to the MCU, its just a matter of when.

"We're committed to Blade,” Feige said. “We love the character, we love Mahershala's version of him. And rest assured: whenever we change direction with a project, or are still trying to figure out how it fits into our schedule, we let the public know. You're up to date on what's going on. But I can tell you that the character will be coming to the MCU.”

I don't know if this specific movie is cancelled or not, but its clear they want to bring Blade into the MCU in some way. So whether its this movie, a D+ show, or bringing him into another movie, its clear they are moving forward with the character with Mahershala playing him. Its just a matter of when it happens.

Hopefully we'll see it sooner rather than later.

I agree. The only thing I'm not confident with is it being Mahershala playing him. It wouldn't surprise me if it takes another few years to start, he walks away.

They keep hiring inexperienced writers or writers whose past work isn't well suited to horror/vampires. He may only want to focus on making his own original content, but I'd love to see someone like Jordan Peele write and direct a Blade movie.

After watching Mahershala is many roles over the years I think he has what it takes for the role.

If it does come to pass that he ends up walking away due to not being able to get the project to move forward I think it'll be a loss.

Because it was announced five years ago, the script still isn’t finished, it’s about to have its third director attached (maybe), and the lead is 50, or 8 years older than Snipes when he starred in his last Blade film.
Ali’s now 51 and on their fourth (or fifth?) rumored director.

If it is indeed cancelled so be it. But just as the rumor also states doesn't mean they won't use the character or Ali in the role in other projects, such as a Midnight Sons project that has been rumored for a few years now.
